The Adventures of a Troubled Boy

"Stop! Theif!" Roku heard the man cry as he was enjoying his lunch. He was a ninja, and though he was not employed by Konohagakure - at least not full time - he knew he had to act. He took off so hard and fast that the table he was sitting at flipped, and before he knew it, he was on the tail of the man who must have been the thief. Roku knew it because he was the only person running for his life. Roku was so fast that it seemed like the man moved in slow motion, and Roku tackled the man. Roku had to be careful about striking him, as he did not want to hurt the other person, nor the shopkeep's property. Carefully forcing what seemed to be a rather valuable piece of jewelry from the criminal's grip, Roku tied his hands as some Konohagakure ninja approached. Roku handed over the man and was offered a reward by the shopkeep, and though he refused at first, the man insisted and Roku gave in.

With that mess taken care of, Roku supposed it was time to move onto the rest of his missions for the day. He still felt odd doing missions for Konohagakure, but it was a necessary evil, and he only took quality of life missions. He wasn't quite sure whether he'd be comfortable actually being a part of the Konohagakure military yet, so he avoided those missions. Still, there were plenty of D-Rank missions to do. One of those missions was to clean up the rubble from a mountain being thrown on the village. As one of the strongest individuals in the clean-up effort, Roku was asked to move the largest boulders, some being larger than a large house. Each time he did, bystanders stood agape, amazed at his physical prowess. He did this for a few hours before being presented with his reward by the village council and he moved on.

Roku was on his way to the next mission when he heard what sounded like a couple of boys arguing. Nosy, he approached where the sound was coming from, and when he was arrived, he was shocked to see two ninja fighting. Not sparring, but full out fighting. The two were in a slugging match, attempting no defense, and it looked like they were both attempting to throw a punch at the same time. To them, it just looked like Roku appeared between them, and then they were sent flying. One boy tried to run and Roku chased him down and sat the two next to each other. "You two are ninja of Konohagakure! You are supposed to be the most honorable individuals in the village, and should never be reduced to something so low! You should be ashamed of yourselves." Just then, four adults approached, and they seemed like the boys' parents. They offered Roku a reward for breaking up the fight, and tired of attempting to deny rewards for things that any person should do, he simply accepted. As it was no longer his business with the parents around, Roku exited the scene quickly.

The next mission on Roku's list was one that was probably chosen specifically for him. He was asked to spar with a young Genin to allow him to practice his swordplay. Roku was perhaps the best swordsman in the world, and had two of the most dangerous weapons to ever exist. Roku went to meet the boy, and immediately loved his work ethic. His form was terrible, he was slow, and he had no balance, but with the work ethic the boy had, Roku was sure to be able to do something to help. He sparred lightly with the young boy, correcting mistakes here and there, but realized quickly they had to start from the beginning. By the end of the day, Roku had the boy able to perform some very high skilled maneuvers. The boy made some obvious progress, and Roku was glad to be the one who taught him. He was very grateful, and again accepted money for doing something that any decent human being would do. At this point, however, he had given up on telling people they didn't need to pay him.

The final mission of the day was optional. Well, any mission was optional to Roku, as he did not have official ties to any one village anymore, but it would have been optional to any other Genin taking missions. Roku was to find a thief who had been stealing food from the academy. His other missions had happened to end just before nightfall, so he walked over to the ninja academy and hid in a place where he could see every entrance. Roku staked the place out for the next four hours, until finally, he saw someone enter. To be sure this person was the thief, Roku waited for them to exit, and they did so out the back door. Roku descended on them, and since it was probably an average Genin, Roku moved faster than the person could even see. However, when Roku got there, the person was, what appeared to be a hungry, homeless boy. The boy explained that he was a student in the academy, and that he had lost his parents in the attack on the Hokage. Feeling terrible for the boy's predicament, he turned him in, but pushed for him to be pardoned of his crimes, which he eventually was after only a few hours. Since the boy was learning in the academy, Roku assumed he had some capabilities, and spent the rest of the night teaching the boy how to hunt with just a Kunai. The boy was actually ridiculously good at the sport, as soon as he learned to track, as he was already stealthy and had great aim with his kunai.
