ROOT [Konoha's ANBU]

Purpose: ROOT is the official title of Konoha's ANBU, it's name says everything that needs to be said about the organisation. While Konohagakure is the strong tree that grows in the daylight underneath it are the roots that draw upon any resources possible to secure it's survival and growth. That is the purpose of ROOT that all of the ANBU members are taught upon being initiated. The organisation handles every form of black ops that the Leaf Village carries out and answer only to the highest of authorities - that being the Hokage but limited knowledge of operations can be known by high officials such as the Jounin Commander and other important ranks within the village.
Leader/Hierarchy:

Command: The ANBU Commander is really the only person of this class, aside from the possible initiate or apprentice they choose or in the case of some commanders their advisers. The leader's of the squads also belong in this category in the case of ones such as Tiger and Crows.

Tiger Squad: The Tiger Squad are the hunter-nin of the organisation, they are in charge of hunting and preventing any information being intercepted by other villages regarding anything Konoha. This squad handles hunting down missing-nin, threat investigation and elimination. They also handle assassinations and other missions that require a death squad.

Crow Squad: The Crow Squad are the intelligent and the cunning, using their advanced skills in espionage they make fine spies, interrogators and hunters for information. They are most commonly seen in the village and use their skills to keep tabs on everything going on and report to ROOT. They rarely leave the village walls unless it is purely for observation and not for eliminating a target which means they tend to be used as scouts and can have very risky tasks outside the village.

History: Formed by the Su-Na Kirigasume following the Blood Mist War between Iwa and Kiri where it was deemed required to possess a form of black ops for the good of the village. Originally being opposed to it Kosuke conceded and ROOT was formed.
Funding: They are funded by Konoha and have very few restrictions on what they can not do without the Hokage's permission. They are not permitted to accept outside donations from other villages or even people that are not of Konoha's approved list.
