Rei was here once again at the training grounds. She often came here to train or spar with her friend Makoto. He was not here today however and she hadn't thought of anything in particular to train... Though it never hurt to maximize effort. Needless to say, she had come to the training grounds without much thought as to what she would do. Her ulterior motive for coming here was to distance herself from her overbearing father, the Hyuga clan leader. She needed a way to vent her frustration at the old man, yet she respected her father: she couldn't simply take her anger out on him. SHe was after all, the princess of the clan and next heiress to lead her people. "I guess I could fight some of the training dummies... but they don't exactly fight back..." she would say out loud to herself, not even paying attention to see if anyone else had been around. She stepped forward and gave one of the training dummies a good hard hit, harder than she intended and caused the dummy to crack slightly. Training her taijutsu was always a good way to relieve stress.

It wasn’t long ago that Jin had trained and gotten some sort of skill with his taijutsu but it wasn’t enough. He craved and yearned for even more. This wasn’t enough. A little skill with taijutsu would not take him so far. He wouldn’t be a useful asset to the village. And if he wasn’t capable of that, then what sort of shinobi was he really?

That’s why he was at the training grounds of konohagakure once more. He was sitting on the ground, breathing fresh air and meditating. This was the beginning of his training, he hadn’t begun to do a warm up either. He wanted to proper channel his inner self to this training so he could gain more. He was wearing his usual attire: a black long overcoat with lengths down to his knees. And his signature white mask with only eye slots and a wide red colored smile painted on it.

He was sitting on the ground with his legs crossed and his hands placed on his knees, in a typical meditation sort of style. His concentration was broken when someone nearby spoke and slammed a wooden dummy. It appeared someone had come to the training ground but this someone wasn’t fond of training with dummies. This could be a good opportunity for him. Verily, he wasn’t strong enough to pick fights but friendly sparring was another thing. It could be a valuable lesson. With that intention he got off the ground and walked towards the lady.

After getting within audible range, he would bow and greet her: ”I overheard your distaste of training with dummies. I’d like the chance to train my taijutsu with you, if you would have me” .

He would say and then raise his head, pausing to allow a response from her and then he would speak again introducing himself: ”My name is Jin, I’m a genin”.

Despite her frustration, she was truly surprised when the black cloaked boy Jin approached her and began to speak. She turned suddenly, her face a visage of surprise. She calmed herself though and her face took on it's more neutral appearance once more. As Jin made his proposition and then introduced himself, Rei would return the gesture with a polite bow. "Rei Hyuga, heiress to the Hyuga clan." she would say, revealing to him her title as a princess. She watched him, mostly his face and body expressions to see if that deterred him at all from his earlier proposition. Either way, she wouldn't allow him to back out of the deal now. If he was surprised and tried to talk his way out of sparring with her, she would step forward in an attempt to thrust her palm into his chest and knock him backwards. If he didn't try to talk her out of the spar, she would take a few steps back for a fair fighting distance and continue speaking. "If it's Taijutsu you want to train, there are none better than the Hyuga clan." she would say. Today as many days, she wore her typical black haori with a white sash around her waist. A white overcoat with her clan symbol upon the back, and black shinobi sandals. Her hair was short to about her jaw line except for the two long braids interwoven with white cloth, located just behind her ears. At the end of each braid, was a metal ring. She would ready herself but allow the one known as Jin to make the first move. She kept her leg stance wide and her hands up in a typical jyuken stance.

PostSubject: Re: Sparring[Jin & Rei]   Sparring[Jin & Rei] EmptySat Dec 02, 2017 5:11 am

Jin knew about the Hyuuga clan. He was a Konoha genin and what sorta Konoha genin wouldn’t know about the Hyuuga? He had a fellow student in the academy too. However, the other Hyuuga he knew wasn’t from the main family. This was his first time meeting someone from the main family and actually, an heiress.

”A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Hime”, he would say with yet another gentle bow.

He was one to respect the workings of a clan and the hierarchical structure; even though Jin was not part of one.  So without his knowledge, he had asked a princess to train with him. He didn’t know if that was breaking some sort of rule or if it was wrong but if it was, he would take back those words. However, for him to know, the princess would have to point that out and she didn’t. So Jin assumed it was alright to train with her.

Obviously, the hyuuga were the best taijutsu clan around and training with them meant getting a serious boost in his taijutsu skills. And what Jin wouldn’t do to get better.

As Rei stepped back and took her stance, Jin followed her example. However, his stance was not similar to hers because hers was the signature and quite dangerous jyuken stance. He had seen it before and he had witnessed how formidable it could be on the academy training grounds.

Even though the two were Konoha shinobi, Jin had never met the princess before. He did not know of her skill and was not aware of the difference in their level of skill. So, as a sign of respect, he decided he would give it his all. On the off chance she was weaker, at least she wouldn’t complain that he went easy on her. Little did Jin know though, he was about to get his posterior whooped.

Jin’s stance was the typical taijutsu stance, his legs were spread with a distance equivalent to a normal step and his fists were raised equivalent to his chest, with the right fist stretched forward than the left one.

”I agree hime. Now then, here I come”, he would reply to her sentence and then announce the initiation of the spar.

With the conclusion of his sentence, Jin would sprint forward and then jump in the air using the taijutsu technique: “Dynamic Entry” aiming to get close to her and try to get a hit. Jin’s attack resembled a flying click with the right leg carrying the attack and aiming for her face.

Was it really a good idea getting close to a hyuuga? Well, if he wanted to train taijutsu he couldn’t possible do that from a distance; now could he?

Ranks were just a title and titles were just positions, neither actually determined a person's skill. Jin seemed like a capable fellow, calm and controlled. Respectful and pleasant to bother the eyes and ears. He had agreed to sparing her without complaint or fear of being chastised. Rei was genuinely glad that this fellow Jin wasn't agreed sheep. Rather he seemed like a young wolf, wishing to sharpen his fangs. Unfortunately for this wolf, he had just met a tiger: soon to be the matriarch of the Hyuga clan.

She would nod her head accordingly when Jin announced he would begin his attack. Her indifferent facial expression turned into that of a cold calculative predator. Jin would rush her with a surprise flying kick, Rei knew it well. The Dynamic Entry. Rei would respond by raising both of her hands in a cross-armed block of his kick. If Jin did nothing more to follow up his kick, Rei would simply block the full force of his strike and allow his momentum to dissapate. As he would land, she would extend her right foot into a low sweep just as Jin would begin to land on the ground. "A good entrance to a battle, but a Dynamic Entry is better used when your opponent is distracted. Furthermore, your initial strike should be fierce but not too fierce. The fierceness of your initial strike is to intimidate your opponent and cause them to react. When they react, you take their reaction in prediction based on your initial strike and then follow up with a secondary combination. This way, you control the flow of your opponent's moves and can more easily predict their actions and reactions. "

Sparring[Jin & Rei] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Sparring[Jin & Rei]   Sparring[Jin & Rei] EmptySat Dec 02, 2017 10:18 am

To Jin’s surprise, the lady didn’t try to avoid his attack instead she blocked it with a conventional yet appropriate block for the flying kick. The moment his leg landed on her arms, he felt the significant difference in his capabilities and hers. When did her hands actually got there? The movement, was smooth, fluent and too fast for him to notice. The momentum he had tried to pour into his kick was gone immediately and she did not even flinch; moving an inch? Hell no. That lady was an immovable mountain. Slightly shocked and completely caught off guard, he couldn’t even think up a follow up and just landed on his feet.

Well actually, he tried to land on his feet but suddenly something sweeped him off of them and WAM! He was on his back and on the ground. Somehow her feet had moved and he couldn’t even see that movement. Was this situation any different for her when training with a wooden dummy?

”Too Weak”, immediately reality found him. He was no match for the Hyuuga princess.

However, this simply did not mean he would give up. And she was kind enough to even give him very helpful notes during the spar. So basically, it was a walk in the park for her while Jin was giving it his all.

”I understand”, he would say as he would immediately follow up after this statement. Instead of replying to her, now that he was on the ground and had taken a hit or two; he didn’t decide to stop rather he decided to continue onwards. And this time, he used another typical konoha taijutsu technique: “Leaf Gale”.

He spun on his back and swiftly moved his legs attempting to take the lady down. Even if it did hit, it would probably didn’t even scratch her but well, that wasn’t going to stop him though.

After spinning on his legs and trying to attack her legs, he would jump backwards in an attempt to put a little distance between them. Obviously, because he had to reply to her gracious tips.

”I would have used the previous technique with a distraction like a shuriken throw or a kunai throw or a smoke bomb or even an explosion tag paired with a kunai. However, in this training session since we are focusing only on taijutsu. I couldn’t possibly have done that”, he would explain his reason for simply using the technique without any prior distraction.

It was his understanding, that if he used underhanded means to simply get an edge in a sparring/training session; he would not learn a thing. If he truly needed to get better at taijutsu, he would have to take the beating push forward and persevere; only then would he truly learn.

He was good natured about taking a hit. Rei was quick and graceful, yet she could sometimes be unforgiving. This was not one of those times however. Even as Jin lay on his back and recieveD instruction, he learned and adapted. If only he were born a hyuga.

From the first contact, Rei had come to understand jin's physical limitations. His ground counter, the leaf whirlwind:  gave Rei a decent idea to how intelligent Jin was. He could learn to adapt quickly. Though they appeared to be around the same age, Rei's skill far surpassed Jin's own. Neither of them would learn too much if this sparring session was so one sided. Just as Jin had countered from the ground, Rei had decided to limit herself to relatively match Jin's physical capabilities. "Sly and shrewd tactics only need apply during official tournament fights and battles where your life is at stake. I am not using any of my jyuken techniques, otherwise you would be disabled and this sparring would be pointless." she would say only after stepping backwards to avoid his rising kicks. He had successfully gained distance from her. Now the two of them stood five meters apart. She would rush him however, at a speed close to matching his own. Most taijutsu styles revolved around staying close to your enemy. She would lunge forward with a right hook and take a step forward with her right leg in an attempt to place her knee beneath his left thigh exactly as she swung her fist to draw anttemptttention to his face with her hand.

Hopefully, her step forward would be unnoticed and she could successfully place her knee beneath him. If successful, she would anticipate his next reaction and counter it by lifting up her forward knee to unbalance him as she would buckle the back of his kneecap and wra her leg around his own leg. Her left hand coming forward with a solid fist towards his gut. After the exchange, she would speak again. "It is unwise to allow your opponent to escape your melee range. Taijutsu's main strength is that it can prevent your foe from using handseals to perform Ninjutsu. If you give sistance for comfort, your foe also has the comfort to attack you at range. Move gracefullt and attack with visible and hidden attacks." The hidden attack of course, was the reference to her leg technique. If her tech ique had been successful, she would release her leg grip on him after punching him in the gut.

Sparring[Jin & Rei] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Sparring[Jin & Rei]   Sparring[Jin & Rei] EmptySat Dec 02, 2017 2:02 pm

Jin did not know more than the basics. He had learned the academy jutsu and he only knew a few taijutsu techniques. That was he was focused on training so much. Even so, for now his barrage of attacks relied on three basic taijutsu techniques and he had already used two of them. And his strategy was flawed as the hyuuga princess pointed out.

Even so, he had little choice when he put some distance between himself and her. Her capabilities were overwhelming and Jin realized his weakness. However, this was not a battle to the death and he had to try and outdo himself; only then could he truly train. Well he did accomplish one thing though, even though it was for naught. He got her to move away and he did manage to place distance between them. Regardless, the two stood five meters apart and Jin was back on his feet and in his stance once more; prepared to do well at least something. He didn’t know what quite yet. And as the situation would have it, he didn’t need to know. This time, Rei took the initiative and charged at him.

This time was different though. He could see her movements, she was not using her full potential. Jin immediately realized her intent. She wanted Jin to improve and she wanted to challenge herself, so she was limiting her abilities.

”An honorable gesture befitting a princess of the Hyuuga clan”, he thought to himself as she got closer to him.

She was a hyuuga, so he wasn’t expecting a kick and there was none. As he had expected, it was a punch and it was a right hook. He could see that too, her movements were now at least visible to him and he could react in time too. As he noticed the right hand, he moved his head back still fearing what the fist might do to him if he attempted to block it. This time however, he didn’t just focus on one thing. He also attempted a counter attack. He moved his head back to avoid the right hook and his left leg pressed hard on the ground as he raised his right knee to aim and hit the princess in her stomach.

As he did so, he failed to notice the knee that had moved underneath his left thigh. He avoided the right hook but before he could actually try and hit her. Rei’s follow up got to him. He fell victim to the gentle knee nudge that threw him off balance, he didn’t fall but the left gut punch got him. It was a hard one and it did land quite nicely. And then Rei explained the mechanics of her attack. She may had limited her speed and strength but she wasn’t playing. She was serious and Jin realized that he wasn’t giving her even a bit of a challenge. If he didn’t manage to do that, then his promise of helping her train would remain unfulfilled. He couldn’t let that happen. He had to try and step up his game.

Instead of using his final taijutsu technique, he decided to do something else and follow Rei’s example. It did hurt but he didn’t let it get to him. After Rei concluded her statement, Jin’s left leg immediately spun attempting to sweep her off her feet. This resembled what he had done before however getting her to step back was not his intention. Just like Rei’s attack, this was a feint. Immediately following the leg sweep Jin would step forward and use both his fists to try and land a double handed blow across her torso.

This was beginning to feel more like a spar and less like a training exercise. She had successfully tripped him up and got a solicit strike to his gut- a bit of instruction and still Jin appeared to be in good spirits. He was like a sponge, willing and eager to absorb the knowledge of a senior shinobi. She hadn't expected a sudden application of teaching to be used against her, and since she was willingly limiting her own movement to match that of Jin. His sudden mimicry of her caught the hyuga princess off guard.

As Jin attempted to sweep her legs, Rei jumped back a coupleasant of feet to barely avoid the leg sweep. She had just told Jin how important it was to stay close to an opponent and it seemed that he was capitalizing on that knowledge. Not one but two quick lessons were picked up by Jin and as Rei leaped back, Jin recovered and rushed her position, extending both fists into strikes.

If Rei was at full throttle, she would have disabled Jin's arms- but she was following a set of rules the two of them had silently agreed to for this spar. Both of Jin's fists connected with her torso, striking her shoulders and sent her stumbling backwards on her heels. The stride was high, high enough to offset her solid footing and prevent her from performing a solid counter.

Sparring[Jin & Rei] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Sparring[Jin & Rei]   Sparring[Jin & Rei] EmptySun Dec 03, 2017 11:24 am

Jin was learning at a far faster rate than any training ever before, sparring really was a learning experience. Even though he may not have incurred any damage at all but at least he now understood how he could attack effectively at close range. Feints were an important part of a close ranged combat. There was more to this session though. He could see her moves, how she flowed into every movement. The way she attacked, the way she dodged and the way she took an attack. It displayed the hours she had poured into training herself. He could only imagine how devastating she would be if she used jyuken.

To Jin’s surprise, the strategy he had attempted worked and his fists did connect. It appeared to be so effective that the hyuuga heiress didn’t even launch a counter attack leaving room to capitalize. So, Jin took the opportunity and pressed on. In the spur of the moment, his mind cooked up a strategy. He half expected the hyuuga to see through it but if she didn’t, Jin would probably get her approval; at the very least.

He would run towards her and jump once more, giving the impression that he is about to use the technique dynamic entry once more. His attack would be exactly like a flying kick and would jump towards her but the moment his feet would touch her; regardless whether she blocked or countered; Jin would use the “Body Replacement Technique”. The technique would then result in a little smoke and Jin would disappear appearing to her right and then he would use a taijutsu technique: his last taijutsu maneuver and his trump card.

The technique that he would use would be “Leaf whirlwind”. First, he would appear to use a high kick which would actually be a feint and immediately after he would attack with an empowered low kick aiming for her gut. You know what they say: a gut kick for a gut punch. Right? Or something like that.

This attack combined all of the training he had acquired in this session. He didn’t just use a single feint in this attack, he actually used two. So he hoped that he would connect once more and give the princess the sensation of a spar.

Even though she was staggered, she was shrewd enough to not lose sight of her opponent. No, even as her feet were finding solid ground again- she knew Jin was coming. Knowing and doing were two different things however. She didn't need the Byakugan to tell her he would continue attacking, but she was matching his speed and his double feign was enough to catch someone of equal footing off guard. She thought at first he would try the Dynamic Entry when she was staggered, but then he replaced himself with a log and attacked with a fierce leg strike to her gut from another angle. It was a good strategy. If Rei wasn't so sturdy, she would have really felt pain from that attack. His kick landed squarely in her gut though, she obliged him by lifting her foot to her tiptoes so that if anything, his kick would carry more momentum and push her backwards.

She would allow the force of the strike to carry her for its length, a good five meters before she gracefully landed back on her feet and looked towards Jin's position. "That was a good strike. An equal opponent would be knocked backwards like I was. You should use that opportunity to use Ninjutsu or Bukijutsu to follow up your attack with a chain attack." she would say and then begin to walk towards him slowly and cautiously. There was another method for fighting Taijutsu users. "If you're facing an opponent with just Taijutsu, be careful when approaching or when they approach. You can rush in, but if your perception of the situation is low, they might get you by surprise. Approach slowly and watch your opponent's body. Then...
when you get just outside of striking distance, rush forward and begin combat like we did previously."
she would say, emphasizing o the last part about becoming within range and attacking- just as she became within range to attack. If Jin hadn't countered her to this point, she would do something rather difficult. In fact, she would perform her first technique, one she had learned from a troubled teacher.

The technique operated in three parts: first, a clone of Rei appeared to the left of Rei and high-kicked at Jin's head. Second, a clone of Rei appeared on her left and performed a low-sweeping kick to Jin's feet. Third, Rei had used her clones to set Jin up with a high and low strike- either forcing him to go backwards or dodge by centering all of his weight between the two attacks with a jump. As Rei's two clones would move to attack, Rei would pause momentarily, giving Jin a sense of urgency to the two side attacks and not the center. Then, as Jin would respond from the two attacks to his sides, high and low- Rei would attack the center, a sudden roll forward and followed by a vault-lift push from her hand on the ground... To lift herself up off the ground sooner than expected to perform a rising kick with her right foot just beneath Jin's chin. Of course the technique she had just used was no ordinary clone technique. No, it was an illusion technique in which chakra was used to create simple physical attacks or recieve attacks to appear as though it was really the user- all the while, boosting the speed of the user. So Rei and her two clones would have attacked as a speed of Jin's+20

PostSubject: Re: Sparring[Jin & Rei]   Sparring[Jin & Rei] EmptyWed Dec 06, 2017 12:25 pm

To Jin’s surprise, his attack worked nicely hitting Rei in the gut. Well, that was nice but it even pushed her quite a few meters back: woah, now that’s super. This little spar/training had done wonders for Jin. He felt eternally grateful to the hyuuga princess for helping him so much.

”I’m glad I walked up to her and offered to spar with her”, he thought to himself as he relaxed a little as the princess began explaining things and casually walking towards him. Did that meant the fight was over? Was the training session concluded? Notably, she did not say that it was over. Jin just assumed that it was since he had landed a successful attack. He should have been paying more attention though because what came after was quite shocking.

The fun tid bit was that the princess warned before doing exactly what she had warned about and Jin did not see that coming. He was expecting the sparring session to be over so it was sort of unfair but not exactly.

Suddenly, there were more than one princesses and at close range and attacking him. One appeared to his left aiming high and immediately another appeared aiming low. Well, Jin had only two options he could somehow float in the air and in a way that he could avoid the two attacks or he could get out of range and react. He saw the movements though, Rei was still keeping her speed limited. So Jin stomped on the ground and jumped back what happened next was that he fell victim to the attack by the princess in the center. The only thing he could do was cross his arms near his stomach to slow the momentum of the kick. However, his timing was off and his stance wasn’t strong enough. The kick broke through the half hearted block and slammed his chin. The strength of the kick throwing him off balance and off the ground.

Jin flew into the air, even though he was no bird, and landed on his back. His mask flew off of his face, revealing his handsome yet shocked face. And that was probably the end right? It had to be, right?

What did she expect? Jin to stand up and start fighting again? He had taken a beating for now. And learned quite a bit. That would have to do. So he decided to reply to her previous explanatory notes now:

”I’ll keep that in mind. I don’t plan to rely solely on taijutsu though. I do have other things I wish to learn. This was a great learning experience hime-sama. It was an honor”, he would say as he raised himself from the ground and grabbed his mask.

Before wearing the mask though, he would give her a bow as a gesture of gratitude. ”I don’t mean to intrude but I’d love to train with you more, again sometime”, he would say smiling a bit as he would replace the unbroken mask on his face once more.

The session was over for now and he had learned his lesson but he would love to train with her again and learn even more from her; she did appear to know a thing or two.

Subconsciously she had wanted to unmask this Jin character from the moment she had laid eyes on him. She didn't mind not knowing his face, but he was someone worth sparring with and improving with training. he simply couldn't let this Genin disappear into the background of the village. Thus, she was pleased when her double feign attack worked and her real strike knocked Jin's mask off. This match was over, she knew it and Jin seemed to know it as well. She had stayed within hi range of speed, but showed him that Taijutsu could be used for more than simply striking. She had given him a glimpse of her signature killing art, the Illusion Step.

Had he not been so quick to get up or grab his mast, she would have assisted him with either or both. He was on the ground after her hitting him after all. As he would bow, she would return the bow respectfully. "I would much like to train with you again. With the right teachings, your taijutsu could be very impressive. If you ever come to an impasse in your skills, feel free to come to the hyuga compound and ask for Rei Hyuga". She would look at the daylight and realize that it was about time for her to head back to the compound herself. She would bid Jin farewell and leave the training grounds, having learned a hting or two from Jin herself. Though she had to ask herself... Why did such a handsome guy wear a mask?

Jin only nodded in reply as the hyuuga princess agreed to training him. It would definitely be a good experience, a painful one but in terms of knowledge it would be great. Even as Jin stood, his gut felt awful and the hit he had taken on his chin resulted in his head spinning. He was standing, firm and strong but honestly, his entire body was aching. The entire training was tough. He was sweating and sort of breathless. It’s true what they say, no pain no gain. He did quite a bit so the pain came with it. That’s what it implies, right?

Well anyways, so Jin stood there and watched as the lady walked out of the training ground. It was probably a well mannered thing to let the lady walk ahead of him; so he allowed that to happen. And then, he left too. He didn’t run nor jogged, he just casually walked because that’s what his body could tolerate at the moment. Jin walked out of the training grounds and ventured into the streets. As he walked by, his stomach announced to him audibly, that he needed to get some food and instant ramen or that jazz would just not do. So now he had to find himself some nice grub, which he did in the form of some really nice sushi. He ate his fill and it took him an hour to leave the place with a heavy stomach but a light heart.

Food can probably fix almost anything. He was feeling tired, now that his stomach was full, but he was also happy having improved his taijutsu. Now that his taijutsu was at an okay level, he thought he would learn some more techniques. And, he would also improve on some other things. What would be those things? Only time will tell. For now, Jin disappeared into the crowd.
