Clan History: The Kon are an old clan, but also a very small clan. They simply cannot maintain good numbers, due to the nature of the kekkai genkai they possess. The lives of families of Kon are plagued with death all too frequently, though recent years have reduced these incidents.
The first Kon was a pair of identical twins. At birth, they were thought to be conjoined. However, they developed their kekkai genkai incredibly fast, and by the age of two it was obvious they were different.
Each one began having children at around the same time. Neither had twins, so it was assumed that their circumstance had been a fluke. They each had many children, both out of desire for children, and out of desire to discover if their abilities could be passed down.
This took a very unfortunate turn. See, their ability was in fact congenital. The thing was, they were an exception, not the rule. The unique mutation did not affect twins. Rather, it affecting single births and caused them to split. In the case of the progenitor, they split in the womb. Their children, however, suffed a much worse fate.
The splitting process is exceedingly painful, and dangerous. The older one gets, the more likely it is to kill them, due to the amount of energy needed to create an entirely new body. The progenitor had been within the womb when they underwent the separation, so their mother provided the required energy, and they themselves were not yet developed enough to percieve pain. It truly was a blessing from the gods.
Of the ten children between them, seven died, leaving them with six. One pair of new twins were still infants. One pair was nearing seventeen. The third was a more middling age of six.
After these incidents, it became clear that the kekkai genkai was simultaneously a blessing and a curse. Over the next several generations, it was discovered to the younger the split occured, the higher the chance of survival. A split within the womb had, as far as anyone could tell, a one hundred percent survival rate. Conversely, a split during puberty, the oldest a split has ever been observed at, had a mere twenty percent survival rate. The median age of splitting was six, but infantile splits were exceedingly rare, with womb splits happening less than a dozen times over the entire clan history. (For reference, if someone chooses to RP a Kon member before the split takes place, they can choose if they survive or not. It is assumed that some other random NPCs are filling the death toll percentages). Stemming from this, the Kon clan has developed into one that has many, many children. So while their numbers will appear bloated at any given time, very few of their members grow into adulthood.
Some interesting peculiarities are as follows:
The identicality (yay made up words) (or lack thereof) of the twins is heavily influenced by the age of the split. Womb splits have always resulted in identical twins, and most infancy splits do as well. Teenage splits, on the other hand, have resulted almost exclusively in fraternal twins. Theories exist that this is related to a possibly increased chance of chimeraism within the women of the Kon clan, and that the amount of chimerized cells within the newborn directly influence the age of splitting. This is only hypothetical, of course.
Futhermore, it is tradition to get a singular newborn a two syllable name, and to begin the names of the post split individuals with one of the two syllables. An older practice had members of the clan refering to themselves as "syllable" + "kon" when with outsiders, though this tradition has been all but abandoned. Few still practice it, though its prior practice is still well known among modern Kon. Example: A newborn is given the name Usa. Upon splitting, the two children are given the names Udon and Sasori. Under the old traditions, rather than refering to themselves as Udon Kon and Sasori Kon, they would refer to themselves as Ukon and Sakon with outsiders.
A third tidbit is that there is a difference of perceptions of self depending on the age of split. Those in their pre-teens and later frequently consider the two people as actually two parts of one person, oftentimes even referring to both of them as "me". Younger splits, however, develop distinct personalities much earlier, and are much more likely to consider themselves merely as two similar people. This trend continues even past identical twins.

Clan Appearance: The Kon genes seem to be heavily dominant, revealing themselves even after several generations of extra-clanal unions. This variance has led to a wide array of possibile attributes for a Kon member to possess.
Clan Location: They have never been super strict on staying together, and during the nomadic era spread even futher apart. AKA: Everywhere.
Clan's Reputation: Generally considered freaks by where they are known. most members make an effort to suppress this sentiment within major nations. Small villages have a decent chance of knowing of the Kon and reviling them, but large villages are either uninformed or at least neutral. The Kon themselves are not antagonistic, simply "unnatural", as some would claim.
Clan Ability/KKg Description: The splitting proccess is detailed above, and is largely flavor, and will therefore mostly be skipped in the description. Post split, the twins can merge partially or fully with one another. The 'submissive' twin, the one contained within their sibling, can manifest portions of their body upon the body of the 'dominant' twin. The area upon which it is manifested must be large enough to support the manifested part, but otherwise can be anywhere. If splitting occurs IC, stats and tier (though not necessarily rank, that is story decided) are copied to the new body, and elements and jutsu can be learned at half cost by the new body. An unsplit Kon does not gain the EXP gain increase. Any expenditure of EXP can only apply to one of the bodies, but EXP gains and starting EXP is increased by 50% (rounded down). Yes, this even includes tier ups.
Clan bonuses: When fully merged, the dominant twin's stats are changed. For each given stat, if the dominant twin's value is higher than the submissive twin's value, the stat is unchanged. If this is not the case, then the dominant twin's stat is increased by half the value of the submissive twin's. This boost cannot cause the stat to reach above 105.
