| Due to change of location, the following thread will be continued in this thread: https://nrnewbeginnings.rpg-board.net/t1055-the-sage-s-arrival-in-konohagakure-open#6753Roku, in his even smaller and more childish form, flipped his blonde hair and nodded back to Kyo, in response to his query about hiding his sword. He withdrew a piece of paper from his pouch, quickly drew a seal, performed a few hand seals, and with the Generic Sealing Technique, sealed Naegling into the piece of paper. He felt a small pang in his chest when he did so. He had a strong connection with Naegling, as it was connected to his own Nature Energy, so when it was no longer present, he felt its absence tug on his vitality for just a moment. A visible grimace crossed his face before he concealed it once more, turning, and assuming Kyo walked with him to the Hokage Mansion, trailed behind him slightly as if to follow his lead, in an effort to maintain his disguise and someone Kyo was giving a lesson to. He put an eager smile on his face, and, assuming his companion was still with him, began to ask questions he knew the answer to in order to keep up the disguise. Questions like What exactly constitutes evidence, How to make sure not to damage evidence, and some others would all be posed to his companion. When the duo arrived at the entrance of the Hokage Mansion, Roku hung behind Kyo a bit, still allowing him to take the lead, and to identify himself to the security guard posted at the entrance. The plan was for him to identify himself, explain what the two were doing, and then to lead Roku to wherever the scene of the crime was. Roku, meanwhile, shifted nervously and excitedly, hoping to play his part as an eager young Genin straight out of the academy well. If all went according to plan, the two would be ready to enter the building the moment Kyo was finished talking, should he actually approach the guard and do so. | |

| Konoha's shining were not fools. They were trained to observe and detect what the normal and untrained eye would never see. Kyo kept looking at the 'little boy' who he would call Shinta and hopefully Roku would just go with the flow. Kyo waited until he concealed his weapon and they went on their way. Shinta had an eager smile and was doing well on keeping up appearances. Kyo looked over the transformation to make sure there were no flaws and walked alongside 'Shinta'.
As Kyo approached the Hokage tower, he listened to the little boy's question while his Byakugan searched the destroyed site carefully. They had removed the large wooden shield the Hokage used to protect the majority of the village from being crushed by the actual Hokage mountain that was broken off and thrown by the attackers. Kyo had listened intently at eye witness reports of the fight between Black Sun and the Hokage. Thankfully, the Hokage's office was not totally obliterated.
"Shinta," began Kyo loud enough for the sentries that were making records of the collateral damage that was caused to hear him, "caution tape. Simple and it's the first line of defense from allowing others from messing with your crime scene. Then these officers here as well. Guys this is Shinta he is an understudy learning crime scene investigation. You looking at future ANBU."
All six of them came to meet Shinta and Kyo told them, "we are going on up to the top of the tower where his office used to be. I need surveillance footage guys of that day." His voice deep and rich and full of authority.
"The tapes are in the vault in the Central Intelligence Division Kyo. You know that. Go on up but I don't know what you plan to find." Said one of the Chuunin present
"Shinta, what's your take on all to this?" He asked in front of the officers

The Adventures of a Troubled Boy
Shinta. Okay, so that was his name for now. Not bad. Roku had missed that detail, but Kyo was smart enough to pick up on it and had fixed his mistake on the fly. That small detail excited him. So his companion was as smart as it would seem, huh? Roku listened to his "sensei's" explanation, with a slightly annoyed look on his face that he would imagine a boy his age would wear when presented with what he would think were boring details. Back then, Roku had perfect manners, so he had never done such things. But other Genin around him did, so he imagined he faked the idea pretty convincingly.
A sense of pride bloomed in Roku's chest for some strange reason when Kyo said that Shinta was going to be ANBU someday. It wasn't really Roku, but yet, the compliment still made him feel great. He figured it'd be a good idea to let that show through, and allowed himself to blush. That'd be convincing, right? Compliment from such an authoritative superior such as Kyo? Roku simply nodded eagerly when he was introduced, flustered slightly by the compliment he had received.
When Kyo asked "Shinta" of his opinion on things, Roku was unsure if he was supposed to try and offer insight, or a typical Genin answer. He figured he wanted to show off slightly, to live up to his introduction, and make what Kyo had said believable, so he spoke. "While I think surveillance is going to be a good start, I don't think we'll learn anything we don't already know. People smarter than me, who specialize in this field, have been over it, after all. What we're going to need to be looking for is something... I dunno. More specific, and unique. A unique residual chakra, evidence of a Kekkei Genkai common among a certain populace... things like that." Roku finished, blushing, avoiding the eye contact of his "superiors." A small boy would seem nervous after something like that, right?

| Excellent, thought Kyo. The boy facade was indeed working because 'Shinta' was playing his role well. The more Kyo thought about it, that was what a ninja was about. Hiding in the shadows and manipulating others to get a desired result and that was exactly what Roku and Kyo was doing. The Hyuga had no qualms about deceiving his comrades either. They were all to blame in his book. Their job was to protect the Hokage at all cost and they all failed miserably at it. Now it was Kyo and Roku's turn to do something about it. Deep inside, Kyo was pissed that this was not done before. There were other ninja he knew of that disappeared soon after they went after Black Sun. Would that be the case with him and his companion? He knew nothing of Roku's fighting prowess but he knew he could rely on his intellect.
Residual chakra! Of course! He over looked that completely and took mental notes of what Shinta said. God damn, he even blushed and avoided eye contact? Typical behaviour for a ten year old around adults like this. He led Roku pass the crime scene caution tape and went in. There was rubble everywhere. Kyo looked up, his vision extended and could see minute details. But in front of him p, at the back of the Hokage tower was a symbol. Kyo bent down and touched the red symbol and realised it had been written in blood. The Hokage's blood? He was not sure.
"Shinta better we take a sketch of the insignia here."
After assuming Shinta took the picture, he dipped into his ninja tool bag and took out a zip lock plastic bag, took out his kunai and scooped the blood soaked dirt into the bag for testing. Now they were getting somewhere. Stupid fools thought it would look cool to do this not knowing they left and important clue.

The Adventures of a Troubled Boy
The moment the duo got inside the crime scene and Roku, using his sensing technique, verified that no one but the two of them was around, he dropped his act, regaining a stronger posture, a more serious expression, and speaking in a deeper voice. He did not, however, abandon his transformation disguise. It was time to act. The sheer amount of destruction cause by the fight that led to the death of the Hokage was ridiculous. It was far, far beyond any of Roku's capabilities. He marveled for a moment before he got to work, just taking his time to appreciate the magnitude of what he was setting out to do. While Kyo seemed slightly angry, Roku was inspired. He was ready to do this.
Roku performed the Shadow Clone Technique, sending a number of clones out to look at things and make observations. Meanwhile, as Kyo suggested, Roku made a sketch of the symbol that Kyo had found, making a perfect copy, as any ninja trained in Fuuinjutsu would be capable of doing. He folded the paper he had drawn the symbol on and placed it in his pouch, moving on from that piece of evidence, as he scoped out the environment for other clues as to the happenings of that night.
It did not take long for Roku's clones to begin to come back with insight. The first came back with a vial of what appeared to be golden dust, which Roku tugged away in his bag as well, as the clone explained to he and Kyo what it was. "There's all kinds of this stuff around. It had to have something to do with the attack. It can't be natural, and it matches eyewitness descriptions of clouds of gold." Roku released the clone and continued as if it were he who had been talking the entire time, as the clone's insight was passed to him. "I don't know of any jutsu that use solid gold. What about you?"
After Kyo responded to Roku's question, another clone would point out large gashes in the architecture. Roku did not know it, but they were the result of Dante's red chakra tendrils. The clone said, "it doesn't look like those could be made with solid objects. What do you think?" The original Roku simply shrugged and looked at Kyo. "I dunno. Does it seem like it's of interest to you?" Unbeknownst to Roku, there was a chance that Kyo could see residual chakra from Dante's unique red chakra tendrils fused with the wood and stone where the tendrils had struck. Of course, Roku had no idea Kyo had this capability, so if Kyo did not point it out, he'd move on as if there was nothing of interest in the gashes.

| Just being here where Kosuke died made Kyo cringe. He felt a mix of emotions. Anger for being unable to stop these monsters, sorrow for lives being lost for nothing more than a selfish person's ambition, and guilt for not being there to help Kosuke. Kyo had of course come here before, however, this is the first time he looked at it in great detail. His Byakugan continued its scanning work until it came upon a fabric that was not familiar to him or anything he had seen in Konoha before. He found it at the side of the Hokage tower itself on the edge of a broken wall of a building.
Someone was pitched into here and this was ripped off by the jagged edge of the wall.
Kyo looked up at the tower and tried to recreate the battle while Roku's clones did their work. He did not want to touch the piece of fabric that hung on a piece of the wall of the hole of the nearby building close to the Hokage tower. He took out a ziplock bag and also a kunai. He then gently placed the blood stained fabric into the bag. His Byakugan saw another piece of the same fabric hooked onto a piece of the wall of the Hokage tower. Kyo jumped up there and again stored it.
He saw Roku's clone put something into a vial and jumped back down to where the original Roku was standing. The clone came and shown the vial of some sort of dust, or was it? As Kyo was asked the question about the gold dust, he asked for the vial and emptied a pinch onto his palm and looked at it.
"Suna? This isn't dust Roku. This is sand. Whoever was here was using some sort of golden sand." Began Kyo thoughtfully. "But we are going to have to go to Sunagakure no sato eventually to find out whose using such a sand. Can't have many golden sand users in the village's archives. We are getting somewhere." Said Kyo with a smile.
As the talk with the tendrils came up he could 'see' it. As clear as day; red residual chakra of some kind. To Kyo it had the stench of death in it. He wished Roku could see what he saw.
"Roku, I can see residual chakra...its faint in certain places but it was more pronounced at the Hokage tower and makes a trail all the way to the hole where I found something." Said Kyo as he pointed where he could see the red chakra so Roku will know fully.
"Unfortunately that doesn't say much unless we meet the killer, with this we can immediately identify him. But I did find these." Said Kyo with two small Ziplock bags each containing a piece of fibre. One having blood on it and the other without.
"This is what I found, over there." Said Kyo referring to the piece of fabric with the blood while pointing to where he found it. "I think it belongs to one of our attackers. The other one," he continued referring to the one without the blood, "came from up there." He said pointing up at a big hole in the Hokage tower wall. The hole was in the office of the Hokage of course.
"There is also red residual chakra where the other piece if fabric is found as well. If we get the proper tracker by smell, we cud find the owner of this fabric."

The Adventures of a Troubled Boy When Kyo told Roku that the material that his clone found was sand, and not dust, and then brought up Sunagakure, Roku frowned. "I've heard Sunagakure is really hostile toward outsiders, but from what I understand, they really just keep to themselves for the most part. You don't think they're helping Black Sun do you? It's more likely someone from Sunagakure defected. That would narrow our search even more. The issue is, Sunagakure is not at all likely to share that information with us." Even as Roku said it, it sounded wrong. Sunagakure had no reason to attack Konoha, and assuming the Hokage and Raikage murders were linked, no reason to attack Kumogakure either. Something tugged at the edge of his memory, as if he were forgetting something.
He stood in thought for a few moments, concentrating, wondering about whether whatever he was trying to remember was even of any importance. He rubbed the mark left on him by Maki of the FROST un- MAKI! "Kyo! I met a man once, he was a Samurai by the name of Maki. It was shortly after the Shogun was killed. I couldn't remember this at first because I got very distracted when he gave me Tamashikami, but he actually confirmed that Black Sun killed the Shogun!"
Ninja and Samurai did not get along, so it was very unlikely that any other ninja had heard this news. Why would they? Samurai didn't bother ninja with their affairs, and vice versa. Come to think of it, the Samurai probably had no idea that either of the villages' leaders had been killed, and even if they did, they probably didn't know anything else beyond what could be assumed to be just a bunch of petty rumors. "Black Sun isn't just a terrorist organization. They have an agenda, and if we do not find out what it is, they've already shown they can kill some of the most powerful Shinobi the world has to offer. We have to find a plan of action, and time is definitely against us."

| Kyo listened to Roku's sense of reasoning and as expected it was spot on. Finding ice cream at a murder scene does not mean an ice cream man did the killing. It could mean many things. However, based off of an analysis of the ingredients of the icecream, one can dechipher where it came from and who made it. It was along this logic Kyo was betting on. Each region had a different geological make up. Since the 'dust' was golden, it will help narrow down the search significantly. Suna is indeed an unforgiving land and so is its people. Roku was right, they would have to think of a way to get that information from Suna.
He listened to what was said about the Samurai. Very interesting indeed.
"So Black Sun also wants to drag the Samurai into this." with that Kyo performed the Summoning Jutsu.
There was a puff of white cloud and there was a large humanoid Monkey with white fur and a scowl on his face.
"Roku, meet Enma, the Monkey King. Enma meet Roku. My travelling companion."
[Is that so?] Said Enma as he nodded in acknowledgement to Roku. [Why have you summoned me?]
"Roku and I don't have the time to go to the land of Iron immediately. I want you to go there and do a bit of scouting. Do not engage anyone. Just get a lay of the land for me because I have a plan for when the time is right."
Kyo's plan was to dress as samurai and use the information gathered by Enma for their knowledge so they would blend in even quicker.
[Sounds good. I will keep you posted.] And Enma left Kyo and Roku there and Kyo turned to Roku and said, "I think we are done here. Its going to take days for us to arrive at the land of Iron. We should take a break and good provisions in order for the journey."

The Adventures of a Troubled Boy "Shinta" smiled. "We're getting somewhere, Kyo. Look happier. We're going to make a difference. These people are shrouded in mystery, and we're having insights no one else has yet had. But yes... it'd seem they did that first. Are they trying to provoke a war? I just don't understand... what is their motive?" Just as he finished his sentence, Kyo performed a jutsu, and a monkey appeared. The summoning technique. So Kyo had a summon contract huh? He was turning out to a special breed of Shinobi, with his Byakugan, his insights into the residual chakra, and now a summon as well? Roku smiled. He felt exhilarated.
When Kyo referred to him, Roku introduced himself. "Hello, I am Roku Enzoka of Kumogakure. I hope you are well?" If Enma responded, Roku would respond appropriately, and then turn his attention back to Kyo when the monkey left. "I agree. Most of what we could have collected has been destroyed in the rubble. There isn't much more to gather." Most of Roku's clones had dispersed themselves, all thinking the same thing: there was nothing else to collect.
Kyo was right about needing to gather provisions, so once more, Roku agreed with him, this time with a simple nod. "I say we meet at the village gates the day after tomorrow, at dawn. I need a day to rest from my travels, and gather supplies for the road. It will feel great to sleep in a warm bed once more." Roku laughed at the end of his statement, and, if Kyo agreed, Roku would leave the building. After he cleared enough distance so as to not be seen, he would release his transformation technique and unseal Naegling, the warm feeling of its Nature Energy embracing him. He'd eventually make his way to an inn and crash early for the night, ready to get up in the morning, gather some supplies, train a bit, and crash early once more before his travels.

| Kyo nodded in agreement to Roku as he looked at Roku who turned and walked away. Today was indeed unexpected for Kyo and no doubt for Roku as well. Never in a million years would Kyo guess that he would be getting help from a Kumo ninja. He was sure that when Roku woke up this morning, he never thought that he would be travelling with a Konoha ninja as equals in the search for Black Sun.
Sadly, Kyo could feel resentment building within his psyche for his fellow Konoha ninja. How could everyone be so normal so soon after the Hokage's death? He knee life must go on but it had only been two months that he returned from the Chuunin exams. The Hokage's body isn't even cold yet had they had one of him to bury as they say.
Kyo could see that it was like nothing to them. Or it was not that big of a deal. He died and was replaced by Rei. Rei, he had to go and see the present Kage. He had to see for himself if she would at least give him permission to go. It would be a short visit since he and Rei were not exactly close anymore.
Suddenly a flash of light appeared around Kyo and he disappeared into the distance to find Rei.
