The man glared at the old lady, trying to comprehend how she could have the necklace in question the whole time, why he was told it was a locket that contained her and her husband but apparently contained a pet, and just whose necklace he and Puu had found by some humongous coincidence that he would follow a scent from the old lady to a squirrel that just happened to have stolen jewelry. Proving too much for him to accept without some misplaced anger, he ran a hand through his wine hued locks and turned abruptly.
So this mission was just to wander around and clean up rocks and trash? It seemed like so many of these jobs should have actual people hired to do them long term, instead of bothering ninja with them. "Seriously, what if there was a war?" he grumbled under his breath, imagining the entire village would dissolve into an apocalyptic dumpster where kids ran unwatched, no one could find anything, and all the shelves of the stores were bare. He stooped to pick up some trash and placed it into a bin nearby.
