Kozura had a problem. Now that people knew that it was she who had defeated the Yonbi, and she who was now its host, she couldn't escape the people always trying to get at her. Popularity sucked big-time. She needed to get out, away from people. Going to the desert seemed like a bad idea though, and Yonbi (she refused to even hear its real name) seemed to agree with her. So, she donned a hooded cloak, chucked her shoes under the bed, and went out the window and onto the rooftop. Even with a good bit of the village still being rebuilt from the attack, and the pumice deposits were still everywhere, Suna was still as thrilling and beautiful as ever.
Maybe there was someone who could help her with her problem. She thought about the three who had been there at the big fight. Sandy-boy, who though powerful, didn't seem to be all that reliable. Well, he'd certainly fallen to the lure of political power fairly quickly. At least the guy with the toys had beaten the other bijuu. Then there was that medic... well, she didn't seem all too bad, but her friendliness was not a little suspicious. Medics were always the ones you expected least to stab you in the back, but who were also the most well-equipped to do so.
Yonbi rumbled on about something to do with "trust" and "honor", but she quelled him quickly. What conception did HE have of "honor"? To stand on one's own feet to face the world's problems was honorable, was it not? [1/8]

By moonlight, Usagi the Rabbit Sage - her own self-invented title - strolled the streets of the desert. She found the weather much more tolerable at night and, on the best of evenings like this, a slight chill blew through the complacent sands and quieted walkways. On occasion she spotted a cactus, usually potted, only now opening its bloom to catch the falling star dust of the night. She'd no idea what creatures pollinated such things at this hour, but her mind wandered from the scientific to the bucolic and inquired no further.
On this night she had allowed her wardrobe to roll over from the day in the form of a short, light green sundress which extended just to her knees. The back was open in the shape of a large teardrop of flesh and she bore simple, practical and strappy sandals. Over this she had, due to the slight chill, thrown a cream colored jacket which looked more like a cape or a shall due to her refusal to put her arms through the sleeves. Her hair washed down over her back in a frankly ridiculously complicated weave, the thick lengths of whitish-silver cascading like a twirling wave of water.
She was entirely alone, as per her norm when not at work, and moved slowly and elegantly through the patches of darkness and the beams of light which poured out of the yet-open drinking establishments.

Speak of the devil, and he shall... wait, who wore a dress like that? Maybe she wasn't trying to be stealthy, or maybe Kozura's tribe just didn't wear dresses in general (Kozura herself opting for a nice desert-sand-color shift most of the time). What Kozura noticed chiefly, though, was the medic's sandals. Hot damn, how much noise did THOSE make? Kozura wiggled her toes silently. They did look nice, though. She had debated going shopping for a wide variety of shoes herself, but decided that she probably wouldn't use them that much, so it wasn't like paying good money for shoes was a decent investment. It'd taken a couple of years for Kozura to understand what "money" meant, and how it was to be used, but once she did, it was a lesson she took to heart.
With brief rising motion, and a push off of the rooftop, Kozura would rocket off of the rooftop, only to land silently next to the medic, continuing the motion in order to maintain that relative position.
"Ma'am." Despite her enormous power, the shinobi order of Sunagakure was still essentially a military establishment, and the medic certainly outranked her. As such, Kozura was still her suboordinate, though having a little kid as your very own well-trained killing machine could reflect poorly to outsiders. [2/8]

A small voice called out, presumably to her, and she looked over her shoulder to the young girl who had fallen in step beside her. She had not been on alert, roaming within her own village, and so the sudden voice surprised her. What a stealthy little girl this jinchuriki had turned out to be. That said, Usagi's head turned with a supreme calm, as if this sort of intrusion happened to her routinely, and eyed the woman in her sand colored shirt. Rather unsightly for a night out, but the regal woman had no business judging the garb of a hero of the Village of Sand.
Good evening my friend. It has been a while. I trust that you have taken care of yourself since last I saw you. She had a deep, husky voice and at the end of her comments she intoned a bit of classic doctor's admonishment. When last they had met Kozura had been in quite a grave condition. I never got the chance to than you for your heroism during the attack on the village. Thank you. She stopped, turned to the girl, and performed a picturesque bow.

Kozura snorted. She never did understand city people, sometimes. They had weird notions and different words. Nevertheless, she was sure that the medic's praise was sincere. Thinking on it now, she really had saved quite a few people, hadn't she? Still, it had been more enjoyable than it probably should have been for her.
"Heroism requires sacrifice. I didn't really give up anything." Well, now that just sounded like fake humility, didn't it? Bah, whatever. She wasn't about to posture and weasel her way out of this one. Better to just speak her mind, in the end, right? It had always been that way in the tribe. Like a big, constantly moving family, there were no secrets save for the ones the elders kept. Naturally, those weren't TRUE secrets. Anyone could request to learn the Old Ways, but if they ripped the body apart, only the victim was to blame for their foolishness and ambition.
At least Kozura had survived the initial tribulation. For that, certainly, she was thankful.
"Still, I suppose this came out to my advantage in the end. The Yonbi's power is no joke." She clenched her fist, and watched as the red glow formed around it. To think that her already great physical power could still be enhanced further... still, she didn't allow the monkey the use of his own name. Beasts like that needed a tight collar, and a short leash. [3/8]
