| - Mission:
Name: Help Stock the Shelves! Location: Within The Village Rank: D Team: N/A Client: Mr.Itoh Rewards:200 Exp and 500 Ryo Description: Mr.Itoh, a young and spry man has lately broken his arm. This has led to his inability to stock his shelves like he needs and is requesting that any ninja willing to do some menial work come and do this.
The young man wearing a black long coat and a white scary looking mask on his face was standing in front of a wooden door, in the residential district. The day before he had received the request that was due on this day. Mr. Itoh had broken his arm and was unable to stock shelves. This implied, that those shelves were also unable to stock themselves and they still needed to be stocked. Stocking of these shelves was so difficult, that it wasn’t simply a one man job either. That’s why it was distributed between Jin and one other individual. Jin did not who it was but he knew that they were supposed to arrive at Mr. Itoh’s place by this time. And Jin was on time. It was a normal morning, the streets were bustling and new academy students were on their way. Shopkeepers were opening shop and the birds were flying around, dancing and singing. The typical peaceful village morning. The morning fresh air was flowing gently swaying Jin’s long coat and his semi-long hair. Jin raised his right arm and gently tapped on the wooden door, knocking in a systematic one, two and three tap way. After knocking three times, he stepped back a little in case the door opened outwards. It would be awkward to get smacked by door and end up getting helped by the fellow with a broken arm; when his reason for being there was actually to help the fellow with the broken arm. He waited for a little while as he kicked the dust and looked around randomly. ”I suppose he’s not accustomed to early mornings”, he assumed as two minutes passed and his knock remained unattended. After waiting for another three minutes, that’s five minutes in total now since the first knock, Jin stepped closer to the door to try knocking on it again. The moment he stepped closer, the door opened with a jolt and slammed Jin right in the mask. BAM! ”Omf!!” and down went Frazier Jin. The spry looking Mr. Itoh appeared from behind the door, ”Who’s there?”, he inquired as he looked towards the white mask wearing boy on his bottom on the ground. Word Count: 350

| Hiro was a few minutes late, admittedly. He was late as his father had deigned that him learning about his partner was important. At least, the basics. That was fine, it was just a minor bother in the long run. No one particularly cared who their teammates were in the long run, but he had decided to do a slight bit of research. He knew his partner was older than him, and that they were also a genin. That didn't mean too much in this case, as this was just a simple mission serving to deal with the shelves stocking. That was fine and dandy.
Hiro walked up to see the boy get donked in the fact by the door, and Mr.Itoh appearing out of the opening. Hiro would walk up, waving to the masked boy.
"Hello. I am Hiro Nara. We are here to stock your shelves."
He didn't offer his hand to the other people, as the boy could get up himself quiet well he was sure. He was a genin. If a door to the face is what it took to stop him, what kind of Genin was he?
"Jin, are you fine?" | |

| Jin’s head was slightly fuzzy when he heard a voice calling out to him. As the mask covered his face, neither of the two would be able to notice the look of discomfort on his face. Regardless, he stood up and bowed to the incoming genin who introduced himself as Hiro.
”Pleased to make your acquaintance, Hiro-dono. And yes, I’m fine” , he would reply to Hiro.
Then, Jin would turn to Mr. Itoh, who awaited his reply as well; so he followed up with another bow this time directed to Mr. Itoh.
”I am Jin Ota and I’ve come to stock your shelves as well Mr. Itoh”.
Jin’s attire would normally be interpreted as a battle ready attire. He had a long coat on, with most of his body hidden behind it so it could be assumed that he had weapons underneath; which he didn’t. And then even his face was covered, like ANBU shinobi; even though, he wasn’t one.
”Alright, let yourselves in. Close the door behind you. The shelves are in the room to your left and the books are everywhere in the house, so get with it then”, said the man with the broken arm.
Jin nodded and then patted his attire to make sure the dust was off from his previous fall. Then he awaited Hiro to take the lead and after Hiro would do that, he would follow and close the door behind them as instructed.

| Hmm. The guy was a bit sketchy, for all intents and purposes. He wore a coat and a mask, and was quite obviously not an anbu. Otherwise, they'd have seen Mr.Itoh coming via even just from his steps. That was the fact that made it blazingly obvious that the boy was not as good as he wanted to be. Hiro could probably beat him. Give him a lil one two from within the shadow jutsu. While that’s what Hiro thought, he just sometimes forget that a ‘lil one two’ from the shadow jutsu would also hit him.
For they copied what he did. This, for being a nara, was not a good thing. Especially for the fact that he was supposed to be one of the more skilled, on of the stronger types. He was not usually. He had the ability to be so, but he was often not so. That was sad, sure, but it’s mainly because Hiro was an idiot half the time. Okay, maybe a bit more then half the time, but that didn’t take away the fact that he had one of the sharpest eyes.
He'd walk in first, and see a mess very close to the doorway. He'd start to pick up and put books away in alphabetical order. He'd say nothing else to the guy, as he figured he'd be able to get his part of the job done.

| Mr. Itoh was what they call a prolific reader. He was so into it that the man had books lying around left and right. As Hiro immediately began to work, Jin decided to first gauge the situation. How bad was it really? That question was immediately answered when Jin entered the room that Mr. Itoh had directed them to.
Book shelves so tall they ran from the ground to the ceiling. Each bookshelf twice as tall than the conventional counterpart used. That explained why he needed a genin to help him with the books. Otherwise, even with a broken arm, it shouldn’t be that hard to arrange books. Once gauging the size of the book shelves, Jin decided to take a walk around and find out how many books did they actually have to arrange. He hoped that while Hiro worked, he wouldn’t mind Jin scouting the situation first. In this interval, Jin didn’t initiate any conversation as Hiro didn’t do it. He assumed that Hiro was the quiet type who preferred focusing on more work and less talk.
Meanwhile, Mr. Itoh found himself a comfortable sofa, grabbed another book and got busy. He trusted the genins of Konoha, so he didn’t feel the need to keep an eye on them.
Jin found piles of books, literally mountainous piles of books stacked around the house. He decided instead of stacking them it would be better to first bring all of them to the room with the bookshelves; the room where Hiro was already at work. To contribute more and to make up for the time he had consumed gauging the nature of the work. Jin decided to make a sacrifice and be more contributive to make up for it.
To do so, Jin took off his particularly long overcoat and began stacking books in it. He would then pick the pile of books tied in the overcoat and bring it to the room, hence optimizing the process of collecting all the books. The books were so much in number that Jin had to bring the pile in his overcoat 20 times. After that, the entire floor of the room was filled with books. This created the difficult task of classifying them.
Jin looked up at Hiro, who would probably continue stacking the books by then:
”Allow me to pass you the books Hiro-dono. When I do, I will announce it’s category and you can put it in its designated position. I will let you decide on where each category should be placed”
He would conclude his suggestion and then await Hiro’s reply. If Hiro agreed, Jin would begin doing what he had just stated. If Hiro had a better suggestion, Jin would patiently listen to it and then incorporate it into his own.

| Hiro had already devised an organization method that would work no matter how many books that the man had; even if it was a few hundred. He had only stacked a few before the suggestion appeared. Hmm. That wasn't a terrible idea? He was willing to work with the older boy in that parameter. He was willing to work with the other boy as it'd get the mission done faster, and he could go bother that other boy again. He had deigned that he would win; make no mistake.
"Alright. I've devised a simple method already."
He had gathered maybe twenty books, of various genres. He had them placed in various places on the shelf. They were, approximately everywhere on the shelf, some smack in the middle of the shelf. He might have to modify it at some later point, and admittedly, he wasn't the fasted. He made no claims to this.
What he could make claims to is the fact that it's a pain in the arse to do a lot of this. He'd rather be doing something else, but a mission is a mission, and experience is experience. It's better to have experience and be bored, then have no experience and be stuck in a terrible situation.

| How hard can stacking books be? Well it’s a multi-step process: Look at the book. Think about the category it belongs to. Then place it in the category. So basically, if you’re stacking books you’re doing three things for each book. Now, consider doing all of this hundreds of books. It gets pretty tough.
That is what Jin and his fellow Konoha genin had to do. This was also the reason why, despite their best efforts it would take them several hours of continuous work to complete it. The two had arrived early in the morning and by the time they ended, the afternoon was concluding and the sun was getting tired. After Jin handed the final book and announced its relevant category, he sat on the floor:
”Phew!”, he let out an audible sigh of relief.
And with that audible announcement of their work completion, Mr. Itoh closed his book and stood up. ”Take a breather, I’ll get some snacks for you two”, he would say with a satisfied smile on his face and then walk to the kitchen. Jin would simply nod in reply and then, he would stand up picking his overcoat and putting it back on.
As Jin sat down again after putting his overcoat on, Mr. Itoh appeared in the room with a bunch of snacks and some warm tea to go along with it.
”You two worked hard. I’m grateful”, he would say placing the food and drink in front of the two.
Jin gently bowed accepting the praise and then removed his mask, as he picked up the kettle and began pouring tea for the three of them. This hadn’t been a difficult task but it was a mission that emphasized on focus, determination and persistence. He noted all that down internally. Those would be his weapons that would ensure a better future as a shinobi.
For now though, he would take a moment and just enjoy the flavor of the tea and reminisce in this little moment that marked the completion of his first successful mission as a genin.

| When one was capable of looking at a wall for a few hours a day, this made things a little easier. Each book went in without even so much of a scratch on it. Not to mention, they were perfectly organized by the end of it. Yes, it was mentally anguishing, but that didn't change the fact that it was needed. Sure, it was a menial task, but that just meant that someone who could deal with menial tasks had to do it. Hiro was a man who could do menial tasks, albeit at a slower pace.
Once the mission was over, he was rather grateful. Mental anguish was done and that meant that he could go home at some point soon. That was always a good thing. Home meant quality food. Home didn't often mean tea, which allowed him to be happy and actually smile when there was tea brought out. There was also snacks, so that certainly wasn't bad. That just meant nice things.
He'd start drinking tea, and look at his teammate for the mission.
"We did good for just menial labor."

| Jin’s white colored mask with a red smile on it was lying by his side. The soft smoke rising from the tea filled his nostrils with a pleasant fragrance each time he brought the cup closer to drink from it. The snacks were good too, it appeared Mr. Itoh was also good with cooking; probably due to all that reading and what not. Jin noted that down too, reading could be fruitful it just needed a certain kind of temperament and a receptive mind.
At his teammate’s remard, Jin smiled and nodded: ”I concur. We did good. Thank you for the hard work”, he would say acknowledging Hiro’s contribution in the mission.
It was a simple task especially for genins; however, in Jin’s opinion no task was simple nor unnecessary. Everything had the potential to teach life lessons and every moment could be worth a lifetime’s experience. He had learned some life lessons from today but alas, this journey had come to its conclusion. The ending was marked with the disappearance of Jin’s share of the tea and snacks. After the food was gone and their client satisfied, there was little reason for them to stay.
So he stood up, put back his mask and then bowed to Mr. Itoh: ”Thank you for the delicious food and hospitality”. After Mr. Itoh would escort them out with a gentle smile, Jin would turn to Hiro and bow to him as well.
”It was a pleasure working with you Hiro-dono” and that would be his goodbye. If Hiro didn’t had anything to say, he would take his leave and disappear into the evening crowd; heading home. He would probably file the mission report tomorrow and collect the reward; for now, it was time to get some rest.
