Kiraku woke up later than usual, the sun already up and shining.Yet, after shaking off the initial sleep inertia, he was ready to face another day of being a genin. Getting slowly out of bed, he looked out the window; still dressed in yesterday's dark pants. It seemed that no storms were brewing and for once he could dress in less layer. Opening up his wardrobe, he got out a red floral shirt and buttoned it up, his hair an untamed mess ran a cold bath to ease his still sore muscles and took his time cooling off and getting into his senses. After splashing his face with some cool water, he caught his reflection in the mirror. Even though he really wasn't in the mood, he had to look good for the ladies. He quickly loosened his hair and gave it a quick brush before tying it once again. He went down and cooked up a breakfast consisting of a bowl of noodles with fried pork and a small portion of green miso soup. He took his time eating, his shoulders still a bit stiff.
He made his way to the mission board as fast as he could to make up for the lost time he spent to get ready. There weren't many missions, to begin with, and with his rank limiting him to D-Ranks; He didn't find himself with many choices. There seemed to be only a single post for a D-Rank mission, regarding a harvest of a blueberry field. It looked like back-breaking work and it was no mission that the fate of the ninja nations hung on but he pushed back that though and tore away the mission brief and walked away, following the directions on the paper.
The field was in the outer layer of the village, away from the high rise building and other obstacles to the sun. The land beyond the village walls was the furthest thing from fertile and the soil inside wasn't anything special either way. With the constant sandstorms, lack of rain and unyielding heat, only a few plants could be cultivated and it required extensive measures to do so successfully. He found the field, which was protected with a high wall and solid steel gate, which was unlocked. He found a huge basket hung near the door and began the work. The field was not massive yet it was no easy feat and by the time he managed to harvest it all and sit down to wash them; his arms, legs and back ached like they were on fire. Still; He felt this was somehow a step up to being a store assistant for a day, with the moving around serving as a good exercise to keep him in a good limber form.
The Farmer arrived just before Kiraku finished cleaning the last batch of the harvest. He took over with a smile and bowing his head in thankfulness for all the good work the shinobi like him do across the Suna Farm plots. On his way back to check in the mission brief, Kiraku realized that maybe there were more to the menial D-Rank missions than one could see.
