Name: Shinku Uchiha (うちは真紅)
Nickname: Demon-Eye Shinku (悪眼真紅), Friend-Killer Shinku (仲間殺しの真紅)
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Height: 1.79m
Weight: 68.4kg
Appearance: A teenager with jet-black waves of hair and a pale complexion typical to the Uchiha clan, Shinku Uchiha has a rather slender frame weighing in at 68 kilograms. The 19 year-old's most distinctive feature is an oddly-shaped scar which curves along the outside of his left eye, with three smaller branch scars sprawling out from it, forming something in the shape of a lightning bolt, a nasty mission memento from his genin days, which he has since colored gold. Save for the scar, Shinku's face, and by extension his skin in general is rather spotless: clear, fair and young. By all accounts, the young man's heart-shaped face is quite attractive: a slightly long nose upturning over chronically puckered lips, topped off with a defined jawline and soft, umber brown eyes. Sitting atop the 19 year-old's head is a shoulder-length, multi-layered logjam of wavy jet-black hair half-bundled under a bandanna-style Hidden Leaf forehead protector.
When he was still a chūnin, Shinku wore the classic long-sleeved black jumper with the Hidden Eddy crest on either side under the forest green Hidden Leaf flak jacket, but underwent a prominent change in attire upon being admitted into the ANBU. In accordance with tradition, Shinku was branded with an ANBU tattoo on his right shoulder before being issued black boots trousers, and arm warmers, a set of dull grey armor and arm guards, topped off by a standard porcelain mask decorated with animal features and patterns. Shinku's own, a cat-like mask, features three red whisker-like markings on either temple, and two black markings which run along either of his eyeholes, before curving to run along the sides of his nose. Though Shinku certainly doesn't mind the mask seeing as he personally customized it, he felt iffy on the fact that it covered his forehead protector and felt the need to express his allegiance and affiliation to the Hidden Leaf, thus resorting to flipping his bandana backwards so that the Leaf symbol was on the back of his head and still visible.

Personality: As a child, Shinku was not unlike most other kids in the Hidden Leaf, joyous and carefree. However, it was always someone evident to him that he was different - he was naturally more adept at fighting than others his age, and coupled with his Uchiha lineage, had high expectations to shoulder from an early age. He was generally able to meet these expectations, but a certain sentiment of weariness from constantly working to attain these goals always lingered on with the boy - however, he shrugged it off as the duty of a shinobi. Shinku's personality drastically shifted following a mission he endured as a genin wherein he was tortured for 24 hours and branded with a cursed seal (see: Character History). The seal, which turned Shinku into a robotic murderer when activated, only activated when the boy attained a certain degree of anger. Therefore, he was forced to constantly keep his emotions in check and reached a state of near-paranoia before sadness finally became a funnel for his emotions and worries. He was constantly depressed and demonstrated the telltale symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in worryingly prominent proportions, choosing to isolate himself with those few who still cared for him and live a solitary, alone lifestyle.
Time passed and Shinku, still heavily traumatized, was recommended for candidacy in the Chūnin Exams, eventually making it to the third round and coming up against the sibling of a genin he had killed in a previous outburst from the cursed seal, who kicked off their duel by berating Shinku for his actions. Enraged, the Uchiha activated the seal and nearly murdered his opponent - but in the process, those supervising him learned something critical about the seal. Not only did it greatly boost the user's abilities and strength, it also transformed the user into a new person with no knowledge or conscience of their actions acting upon this intrinsic rage, who would stop at nothing to kill anyone around them - friends included - to appease their anger. This effectively made Shinku a traumatized schizophrenic with the alter ego of an almost puppet-like entity with an addiction to murder.
Character History: Named after the distinctive color of the Uchiha Clan's Sharingan, Shinku Uchiha (Shinku: 真紅/"Crimson") was fortunate enough to have been born into one of the four noble clans of the Hidden Leaf, the Uchiha Clan. Raised in a rather spacious house in the Uchiha Clan district by his parents, Shinku's childhood was that of an average Hidden Leaf boy - playing Ninja with the other kids, training in basic taijutsu and ninjutsu with his parents and some other older clansmen of his. Shinku's prowess and natural ability as a shinobi became apparent during his childhood, and he was able to perform several different Fire Release techniques before his entry into the Academy. When he did enter the institution at the age of five, instructors quickly caught on that Shinku possessed raw talent which put him a cut above his fellow classmates, and as such, he was allowed to graduate a whopping two and a half years earlier than he was supposed to, earning his Hidden Leaf headband and the status of genin on his eighth birthday.
While he became heralded as some little genius and earned himself showers of praise from his teachers, family and especially his parents, Shinku felt greatly burdened by the terrifying proportions of expectations placed on his shoulders. Nevertheless, he was placed on a genin team with two other genin who had graduated at the regular age of eleven, and though he was more or less able to keep up with his teammates, fighting alongside older genin made Shinku feel rather neglected, but still swallowed everything, maybe out of duty as a shinobi, or maybe out of his own pride and the eager expectations of everyone around him. While unfavorable in his eyes, these circumstances hardened him as a shinobi, and as both his teammates and himself grew stronger, they were accordingly allocated increasingly harder missions.
One such mission saw several different teams of varying ranks, including Shinku's team, combined into one large platoon tasked with locating and bringing a defecting Yamanaka Clan jōnin back to the Hidden Leaf. Through the simple power gap between the two, the Yamanaka was able to easily outmaneuver Shinku's team and whisk Shinku himself away with him, bringing him alone behind a waterfall and torturing him for an excruciating twenty-four hours with both Yamanaka Clan techniques and simple physical beatings in an attempt to gather any information on the search party, and though he succeeded, still had to physically and mentally beat the boy down before garnering enough intel to be satisfied. As a twisted parting gift, the Yamanaka employed the use of jūinjutsu - cursed seal techniques - to brand Shinku with a seal under his left eye which, when activated, turned him into a bodily manifestation of the defecting jōnin's will.
The defector then allowed himself to be captured by the search party and voluntarily surrendered a half-conscious Shinku. Upon arriving at the Hidden Leaf and passing through the village gates, the Yamanaka promptly activated the seal, rendering Shinku an automaton who would stop at nothing to kill his fellow Hidden Leaf shinobi, driven by the Yamanaka's will. The genin proceeded to remorselessly take the lives of five fellow Konohagakure genin who were part of the task force, including both of his teammates before being forcefully restrained and knocked out. The Yamanaka jōnin fled in the chaos, but was found by ANBU a few days later and thrown behind bars. Shinku, on the other hand, was admitted into the Hidden Leaf hospital for only a couple hours before being brought into the Torture and Intelligence Force headquarters for interrogation while still unconscious, before everyone realized that he had been under a form of mind-control jutsu unique to the Yamanaka Clan.
A quick visit to the Yamanaka Clan estate and a brief session with the clan head, under full supervision from several ANBU to prevent another outburst, was enough to partially fix the problem. For one thing, the clan head managed to sever the link between the seal and the user, meaning that the defector couldn't force Shinku to go on killing sprees again - but the seal was impossible to completely remove, meaning that he was forever stuck with it. It was then revealed that the seal feeds off negative emotions, and that as long as Shinku was able to keep anger or bloodlust at bay, he would be normal. In view of this, the higher-ups in the village decided to allow Shinku to lead a normal life as he had prior to the incident except ANBU would be constantly watching him from the shadows. However, the sheer traumatic weight of the incident dealt emotional, physical, and mental damage in epic proportions to him, and he would remain permanently scarred. Many of his fellow Hidden Leaf comrades held grudges against him, and he eventually earned the moniker of
Nakamagoroshi no Shinku (仲間殺しの真紅) - or "Friend-Killer Shinku".
Shunned by many, Shinku drifted away from those remaining people who still loved him, completely ostracizing himself from the village and finding solace only in himself, and took a short sabbatical from village missions, instead spending most of his time training alone. Time passed, and Shinku's father eventually recommended his son for participation in the Chūnin Exams, and the recommendation was approved by the Hokage. Shinku filled in a spot on a team whose third member had already passed the exam the last time around, leaving their two comrades behind. The first and second stages passed without a hitch, but in the third stage, Shinku was eventually matched up against the brother of one of his former teammates, who he had killed. Up until that point, Shinku had done a good job of keeping his anger at bay, instead using sadness as a funnel for his mind. However, his opponent begun their duel by berating Friend-Killer Shinku for his deeds, enraging the latter to the point where he activated the Yamanaka seal and once again entered a stoic, murderous trance as his irises characteristically turned red and shrunk, nearly murdering his opponent before both the proctor and surrounding ANBU could stop him.
Upon the conclusion of the Exams, Shinku, considering his abilities, was deemed worthy of being promoted to chūnin, but the issue prompted a debate amongst the higher-ups in the village, who voiced their concerns on whether Shinku could restrain his emotions enough to prevent more outbursts which could once again harm his comrades. It was eventually decided that the boy would be bestowed with the rank of chūnin, but would have to immediately join the ANBU as an initiate in order to train to suppress his emotions. Within a week of Shinku receiving the iconic Hidden Leaf flak jacket, he was forced to forfeit wearing it - instead, he was given a set of dull grey armor and a porcelain mask. He was an ANBU.
