Voltaire had seen several job postings and decided to take every last one of them that his rank as Genin would afford him, and to his luck one of them asked for somebody willing to pretend to be a child. As it so happened, Voltaire kind of still was a child, and if they were asking for younger that was just fine because he was years away from facial hair if it even would grow, his voice was far from deepened, and his porceline complexion had not yet been lost to the forces of puberty.

Mr. Orion, the dirty liar, was thrilled when he saw how immature Voltaire looked. Voltaire,
however, was less than thrilled when the man complemented his use of the transformation Jutsu. Voltaire was about to correct him, but then the lady of the hour came through the door and he just smiled and extended his hand, making sure that his posture was brilliant. He smiled softly, tilting his head a little and looking up with his softest expression to make eye contact with the woman. They sat down and ate dinner, but not a whole lot happened. Even now knowing that he had a child, the lady did not seem very fond of Mr. Orion.

The next job on Voltaire's to do list was to throw a fight, something that he found highly dishonorable and would never have done if he was not desperately in need for money to purchase a new puppet. Before he got there he removed his Sunagakure no Sato headband and used a transformation Jutsu to make himself look taller, more muscular,
and dark haired. Only his blue eyes remained. When he got to the place of the fight he found that there was a make-shift ring surrounded by hooligans placing bets. There was an enormous man with a small head and several tattoos standing on one side of the ring flexing and showing off for the crowd of cheering jack asses. Voltaire jumped up onto the stage and squared up. Voltaire found quickly that the man was sluggish and inflexible due to the nature of his muscles and supposed lack of stretching, and Voltaire was darting around to make sure that he wasn't struck out of the transformation technique by one of those huge fists. He then decided to fake a fall after about five minutes of ducking, claiming his ankle was busted and forfeiting by default.

The next task, and one Voltaire would not have to protect his reputation with a transformation as he would always be proud to help out the citizens of the village that made him great, was to help stock some store shelves. The man who graciously greeted him apparently had a busted up arm, something that had Voltaire been just a bit better at Ijutsu he could have just healed himself and then stocked the shelves while he allowed the owner to rest. But alas, he would have to just do the menial labor. Voltaire quickly took care of the cans, the bags of grains, the boxes of dried noodles, and even a few bentos that were premade to be sold to those who were on their way to work.

Voltaire had even more pretending to do when he was asked to go on a date with some spoiled rich girl, which was just fine. Just as he had been a child pretending to be a child earlier, spoiled rich girls were something that he did not have to go too far out of his element to deal with. He had been around a lot of them in his travels, especially when his family had convinced some noble that he was getting a great deal on something so they got invited to a big fancy party. She was not ugly by any means, but she was not particularly pretty either. She was well dressed and wore a sweet smelling perfume. Voltaire had been offered a free bento box for his help with the man and even taking a look at his arm, so he took it with the date. He found a shady place in the shadow of the Kazekage tower, where he enjoyed to meditate on strategies. He took off his massive cloak and allowed her to sit on it while the two shared the Bento, and while she seemed to very much enjoy her time with him, she informed him that he was not her type, which he took a little bit personally but he did not allow that to show on his face.

After having completed his date Voltaire threw on his coat and followed her home, which was not part of the date even though she said it was sweet. It was time for him to test some of her father's food. He was not getting the ratings that he had hoped for.
Voltaire walked into the door and instantly understood. The chairs were all wobbly, the tables were in disrepair, the silverwear was dirty, and something smelled like mold. How,
he wondered to himself, how do you get mold in the desert?

He had a ham and cheese omelette that the man gave him, and it was good. It was warm,
creamy, folded just right, the ingredients were cut perfectly, and the smell was fantstic.
Voltaire told the owner about the great quality of the food, told him his restaurant was disgusting, and walked away content with what he had done for the client.

Voltaire was also supposed to rearrange the pretty flowers. These were some of the things that Voltaire most missed about his travels, the flora of foreign lands. He had some pretty, as well as pretty sturdy white vases that he arranged in a semi-circle around the outer wall of the Kazekage tower. He then took the flowers, mostly soft blues and pinks from Kusagakure no Sato, and a couple of sunflowers from Konohagakure no Sato. Voltaire would normally have been disgusted to be decorating the Kazekage tower with something from outside the lands of Sunagakure no Sato, but it was just so pretty that he could not help but enjoy himself. He used the sunflowers as center pieces for each vase, and then surrounded each one with the smaller flowers from Kusagakure before he declared that it was a job well done and headed off for the next task.

Voltaire was proudly donning his Sunagakure no Sato headband when he walked into the sand castle competition that some optimistic community organizers were hosting to get the citizens to feel a little bit closer to the shinobi who protected, served, and governed them. Voltaire was unsure about the activity itself, but he was definitely fond of anything that was done in the name of unity for Sunagakure no Sato and the Land of Wind as a whole, as it made them more powerful when faced with outsiders.

On either side of him were older people who seemed pleased to be there, and even pleased to see him, which in turn made him happy. As soon as they were told to start Voltaire started to scoop up sand and pack it into walls. After a short period of time he realized that he was not nearly as good at building sand castles as he was arranging flowers. He was given fourth place at the end of it, which he was not particularly offended by. He was somewhat embarrassed, but they were all pretty nice about it around him, so it was not that big of a deal. When he was done with this he went home and decided that it was time to rest.
