Name: Kiigan Wakaichi
- Spoiler:
(Born Kiigan Igarashi)
Nickname: N/A
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 185 lbs
Appearance: Kiigan is light skinned, perhaps a half shade lighter than the average person due to his shaggy, roughly chin length maroonish red hair. His natural eye color is a shade just off from his hair, displaying in a deep crimson. He has quite a few scars about him. Most notably there’s a light scar on the left side of his bottom lip, but his arms and hands are littered with fine little scars from various brawls, his days in training, and the family trade. When he's not wearing his jacket, the largest scar of all becomes visible. There's a large slash from his left shoulder to his right side, lighter than his skin tone and betraying just how deep the wound was.
When angry and drawing on the nibi's chakra, his appearance alters a bit. The shape of his eyes seem to sharpen at the edges, seeming more feline. He gets a case of Two Tails induced heterochomia, presenting in his right eye being yellow, his left being green, and both being nearly pupilless. His eye teeth will elongate enough to occasionally poke below his top lip. His red wine locks will seem to spike out, like a cat's hair standing on end.
The jinchiruki isn’t a big fan of clothes, so to him, simple is better. His muscular torso is usually bare aside from the permanent black seal around his naval. Fluttery and tight clothing annoy him, plus they are fire hazards. If he is wearing anything up top, it’s a high-collared blue coat with a silver stripe over the shoulders that he removes immediately if any physical activity arises. His arms are wrapped tightly in bandages up to the elbows, as if he’s advertising his brawler tendencies.
His lower half sports standard issue black shinobi pants, sitting low on his hips and disappearing into black, scrappy boots that come up on his calves. A gray belt hangs crooked around his waist, provided storage pouches for typical ninja items and a caske of alcohol weighing down the right side.
Village: Hidden Mist
Character Rank: Genin
Character Tier: D-3
Clan: N/A
Element: Fire Release
Bijuu Roll: Successful. Nibi.
Personality: Kiigan is a complicated fellow. He typically seems a bit emotionally stunted, as if he only knows himself as shallowly as he gets to know others around him.
Inwardly, anger is an emotion he understands and channels well, with most others leaving him in confusion as he tries his best to process them. The fact that he's the host of Matatabi seems the ultimate root of his default frustrations. He and the beast don't see eye to eye on anything, and hearing a voice pop in and out to politely urge him in the direction opposite of his intentions grates on his patience, which he already has little of.
From an outer perspective, he’s unsettled, brash, rebellious and stubborn at best, which tried his teachers to no end. He can be lazy when it comes to things he isn’t interested in, which is the exact reason he hasn’t progressed as far as he should have by now as a Shinobi.
He can be very passionate about and protective of those he’s managed to truly connect with, but those are few and far between. For the most part, those he interacts with are people he fights with or flings, none of which he takes seriously. The young man has very little self control when it comes to women, booze, and violence, which seem to be the few things that can draw him out of his usual serious nature.
Though he's a difficult person, there are some good things about him to note. Since his favorite past time is to brawl and set stuff on fire, he's very helpful in a fight regardless of the danger level. He's his gentlest self around young children and his little sister, even though she's grown. If he's forced to be, Kiigan can be wise in serious situations. While he's no hero, he does have a loose set of morals that he operates on, and should they be threatened or broken he won't hesitate to step up. Once he makes up his mind it's usually final, and depending on the situation that can be very good or very bad.
Character History: - Spoiler:
About thirty years ago, there was a generally peaceful organization called Ikigai- "the meaning of life". It had many branches of cult-like followers that were either seeking or had already discovered their Ikigai. The Nibi branch of Ikigai was situated in Kirigakure, where Kiigan's mother, Benibara, discovered it. She was skeptical at first, but after bonding with the other members and learning with them, she converted and joined them where they all lived together.
In this environment, Benibara met a man and fell in love. Before she knew it, she was pregnant. About this time, Kiigan's father disappeared with a few of his friends to track a lead on Matatabi's jinchiriki. The mission was a success, so the group were tasked with resealing it. The elders decided it would go to the first child born of several pregnant mothers, with Benibara going into labor first.
Benibara gave birth to healthy triplets. While a bit of a curve ball, the first born seemed to be the strongest of the three, so Kiigan was chosen as the new host.
Being the mother of her Ikigai was joyous, but only for a time. Now that the cult possessed the object of their obsessions, jealousies started to arise. They demanded too much of the child, all taking ownership of him and fighting over his attention. Benibara started to notice a change. Everyone continually fussed over Matatabi and tried to draw out its characteristics, while caring nothing for the child it lived inside.
Her Ikigai shifted. No longer was the two tailed beast her meaning for life. It was her children. Her love for her family, and her desperation to protect it. She and Kiigan's father tried to escape in the night, but were found out. To let Benibara and the children escape, their father disguised a log as Kiigan and drew them away on a chase. That was the last time she saw him.
The mother waited for weeks at their agreed meeting spot, but her love never made it. She was forced to move on to provide for three hungry mouths, taking any work she could get.
After a couple years of moving around to keep Kiigan hidden and struggling to make ends meet, the Ikigai disbanded due to a sudden loss of members. While working in a local Izakaya, she caught the eye of a rich carpenter that went by on his way home from work every day. He wanted her instantly and was very persistent, though her heart already belonged to someone else. Desperately, he persisted even after discovering her three small children. She shot him down over and over, but eventually her hope gave out. Her job didn't pay enough and she gave up on her lover in favor of giving their children the best shot at life.
Kiigan's mother, Benibara, married Ebizo Wakaichi of the very lucrative Wakaichi Boating Company. Even though the Nibi branch of the Ikigai cult sealed the two tails within Kiigan upon birth, he was raised normally within the wealthy home with his two other brothers and younger sister. He was taught to build boats, which he hated from the start. It was boring. The Wakaichi family was strict and difficult to please, which was also boring as well as frustrating and miserable. Kiigan's spirit was wild and unruly, and they hated it along with the hazard they though it was to their prestigious reputation.
Once he was old enough, he begged to go to the shinobi academy to get away from it all, despite his mother's objections. She'd always been very protective of him, but he was cemented in his decision. Perhaps some training would help him protect himself when he needed to.
Kiigan thought becoming a shinobi would get him away from the hard work and expectations the wealthy family name heaped on him, but he was wrong. Once his teachers became aware that he was a Jinchuriki, impossible standards were shoved on him. They expected him to be the star pupil, pushing him to get stronger and stronger. Everyone that spoke to him was hungry over his potential for power. He'd be the jewel in Kirigakure's crown, right?
Rebellious and bitter over his "curse", Kiigan slacked off in his studies and became disrespectful to everyone. They all wanted something from him, even if he didn't want to give it! And all because of this supposed power within him that wouldn't cooperate and frankly made everything he did more difficult. The more people pushed him, the less motivated he became.
Kiigan was the bad boy of the academy, utterly lackadaisical. Oddly enough, this earned him attention from the cute girls in class, while simultaneously getting him into fights with the boys. This he liked. It provided a thrill he yearned for, one that stuck around even once he became a genin and subsequently gave up the shinobi way, much to everyone's disappointment.
Dodging responsibilities was now his main goal in life, even as he was forced back into the family business of boat making. He did his job, got paid, and blew it all on booze and cigarettes while picking up girls and starting fights with the guys...and occasionally causing fire damage to local establishments.
Recently he finally managed to not blow all his money earned and decided he was moving out on his own into an apartment closer to the city so he could live how he wanted. Since he was bent on causing chaos and destruction everywhere he went, the Wakaichi thought it best to distance themselves from him and agreed. It'd save them money in the long run anyway.
Striking out on his own without his family's deep pockets and with little usable skills other than carpentry could prove trickier than he thought...
