The Power Within (P)

Raiden rolled out of bed, glancing at his clock it read 9:00 AM. This was very late to him, he is usually up and eating by now. He had trained himself much too hard last night and he was feeling sore all over. As he stood up he went over to the shower allowing the warm water to fall over his face and grant his body some reprieve from the soreness. He began to think of what he wanted to do, learn jutsu. He decided that today he would head straight for the library to scour for jutsu scrolls. As he got out of the shower he looked at himself, he had grown noticeably more muscular since he had returned from his years of training outside of the village. He knew that he had to get stronger though, no matter the cost. He put on his clothes and slid into his cloak but as he ate he noticed that it was raining outside, not the ideal day for ninjutsu training, but he never let the weather stop him. He knew there were some jutsu that didn’t require a certain element, but if all else failed, he could definitely work on his Taijutsu katas.

He walked out of his apartment that was on the bottom floor of the complex. Locking the door behind himself he pulled on his hood and headed towards the library. As he walked he noticed the rain and the clouds and began to reflect on the past, his childhood as a privileged member of the main family, he wasn’t spoiled though. He realized that he was nearing the library and just as he made it through the door the rain began to fall much harder. Glad to be out of the wet weather Raiden removed his now drenched hood and ran a hand through his unruly white mane. The librarian bid him hello and asked if he needed anything. He told her that he was looking for the scrolls containing clan information and she asked to see his I.D. card and headband. After all the formalities were out of the way she directed him to what appeared to be a torii gate in the back of the room. It was red with lanterns hung around it, the strangest thing was that it was flush against the wall and would appear to most as just a decoration, but to a ninja it was a gateway to the jutsu section of the library.

If one thought the regular two story library was large then what he found through this doorway was enormous. It was a 3 story room that was twice as large as the regular civilian library. This area had various subjects that spanned from jutsu, to history, all the way to inter-clan politics. He was currently only interested in the jutsu part so he made his way to the third floor. After arriving he looked around at all the different sub categories that were connected to this. From Ninjutsu, Genjutsu and Taijutsu all the way to Space/Time and Fuuinjutsu. He did have an interest in learning some more about Space/Time Ninjutsu he would have to check on that later. He made his way into the room designated for clan history and found it had even more sections in it, all five elements and a Chakra theory section along with non-elemental sections, clan techniques. He headed into the clan technique section to find what he was looking for. He would need to use the key his grandfather had given him to gain access to the ability he sought after, but it wouldn't take more than a few minutes to find it.

He found the box labeled forbidden, slipping the key in and unlocking it, he found a single scroll inside. The scroll was rather small, so, he put the scroll in his sleeve and took a moment to look around for some ideas on other possible jutsu. He saw a couple that caught his eye but in the end decided to go check out the one jutsu for today. As he made his way back down the stairs he found himself actually getting excited. This was an ability that He was almost jumping with anticipation! Almost. He was still a member of the main family, and as much as he hated to admit it his mental conditioning from when he was a child still showed and as such he refrained from running off to the training grounds to begin. As he approached the gateway he formed the seal of confrontation with a quick burst of chakra and the doorway opened and then shut back as he made his way through. He took the scroll to the librarian and checked it out and then he was off, walking at a slightly brisk pace towards the training ground. He didn’t want to expend too much energy before he started this jutsu. He was so excited that he didn’t even notice that it had stopped raining and the sun was coming out.

He walked to the center of the field and began to read the more specific areas of the scroll. It said you had to gather your chakra and focus within oneself, to convert your chakra into something stronger. So he gathered chakra and focussed on it. When he let the chakra go there was a strange feeling, but it passed as fast as it appeared. Raiden sighed, this was going to be a long day. He decided to try again with more chakra this time. He could almost feel an energy… Wait… yes, he could definitely feel some form of energy flowing throughout his body. It felt strong and potent, yet peaceful and serene. Like a mighty lion, laying on the ground in a powerful slumber. It felt so powerful and broad, yet so under control. He then decided to allow it to flow into him, he wanted this serenity, and he wanted this peace. He could feel it quickly overwhelm his own chakra, this scared him. He then immediately began to regulate the flow, focusing on keeping just the right amount of this powerful chakra flowing into him. It lasted a while longer before it ran out and left his system.

He sat in the lotus position and suddenly he focused on taking in the energy as fast as he could. He charged it and charged it, focusing more and more time on it. He then got to the point where he felt he couldn’t handle any more, standing up and then, activating his Sharingan. His world changed, instead of the usual slowed down perception, his world almost stopped. He could see in such fine detail everything was almost overloading him. He calmed down and looked at his reflection in the pond nearby. His eyes had become red with three tomoe circling inside of them. It seemed as though his Sharingan was enhanced by this potent chakra, meaning that his other jutsu could be as well! He had just increased his power tenfold, and he couldn’t wait to try it out. His focus greatly increasing he wanted to test his limits, creating a clone they both focused on building up sage chakra and then once they had gathered enough, they stood and faced each other. This clone seemed to be much stronger than any other clone he had made. Meaning it was much more durable, and able to take, and deal much more powerful blows. Raiden immediately rushed at the clone sending a powerful blow straight at its face, it was able to dodge to the side, but it seemed the range of all of his attacks had extended. It still seemed his fist hit even if it didn’t actually, it sent the clone careening into a tree, through the tree and into another one. It then stood and ran at him going a speed that made him laugh, not out of jest, out of glee, glee for how fast he was actually moving.

He caught the punch, briefly surprised as he felt it push against him. He yanked the hand back and chopped the clone directly in the jugular dispelling it instantly. He then grew tired as the chakra wore off, causing him to take a moment to catch his breath, and pop a soldier pill into his mouth. With renewed vigor he began to grab up his things to leave the grounds. He thought of the death of his uncle again. If he had this skill then, could he have defeated the those bastards faster or even immediately? He thought of the power he could now use, sure he needed a lot more training but even in its raw, untrained form it would pose a threat to any whom he fought. He wanted to use this power to survive in this world, this world with constant war and survival of the fittest. He wanted to use this power to protect all of those he cared about. He also wanted to make his father and grandfather proud of him, though the two of them had their differences. He loved those men more than anyone else on earth, he wanted their approval more than anything at all. He thought of the many faces of the village and clan, he needed to be strong to one day lead the clan and village.

As he walked home from the training field he began to reflect on how far he had truly come from the lessons his parents had once taught him. He had actually learned an extremely rare and powerful technique today! That made him swell with both pride for his hard work and accomplishment. He knew though that he still had a long ways to go before he could really protect himself let alone anyone else. His resolve strengthened. He began to quicken his pace until he broke into a run then he leaped, jumping from rooftop to rooftop. His tiredness briefly being overcome by his determination. As he ran he began to practice doing maneuvers such as flips and summersaults in order to practice control over his body. His condition for himself though was that he had to maintain his speed whilst doing it and he could not allow himself to misstep or stumble. As he ran he jumped and did a reverse hand spring off of a roof vent that then allowed him to cartwheel onto a wall and use his chakra to run along it before flipping off onto a street post. He sat on top of it for around ten minutes catching his breath. He was a good fifteen meters up, but to a ninja this height was nothing. He pushed himself off of the post back to the street where he decided to walk home at a more leisurely pace seeing as he was halfway there.

As he walked he was greeted by some village shop owners who were just closing up to head home for the night. He knew a few of them and offered a hello. As he made it back to his house he decided that before he went to sleep he would go to his training room that he had built in which there was a training dummy that was littered with kunai and shuriken and even senbon. He had been training his ability to throw weapons with greater accuracy and speed. His power was fine but his speed was slacking and his accuracy wasn’t amazing yet. So he began to throw shuriken at various targets painted on the walls that were hidden behind different objects. His first shuriken flew straight at the far walls target and hit it spot on he then threw two more and then a third slightly faster that passed them and threw off their course to hit two more targets one on the wall and another on the ceiling. He was getting far more skilled at using shuriken, so he switched to kunai, he threw three all hitting the two targets and then the training dummies face. He had always been pretty good at throwing kunai. Finally it was time to work on a pet project of his, throwing senbon. He found their usefulness in the field to be very appealing and knew that they would be a good tool to have. As he threw them he noticed that they lacked the power or timbre of the other two weapons but they had accuracy to a tee. Throwing these it was easy to see how one may be able to kill by hitting certain vital points like the temple or such. After he finished throwing he decided to go to sleep, he had another long day of training ahead of him tomorrow.

He woke up to the sound of his alarm going off. He glanced out the window and saw that it was still fairly dark and that not even many ninjas were awake yet, this made his training that much easier as a ninjas greatest weapons were surprise and deception. As he thought of his plans for the day he began to rummage around the house getting prepared for his training. He put some tea on the stove he then put on a pack of ramen in the microwave and set it. He then began to stretch out his sore muscles and tried to get the sleep from his eyes. He rushed out his front door and through the village in a blur. Back out to the white deserts. It was time to finish this. He sat in a meditative position and rushed chakra through his body, more than he had ever considered using for anything that he had access to. He floated up into the air, hovering several feet above the ground before he released a blast of chakra that displaced sand for miles, it could be felt in the village. He converted all of his chakra into Six-Paths chakra.

Raiden stood from the ground, his chakra having gained significant power. He sat back down to continue working with his latest ability. He could feel a warmth growing within himself. It was slowly growing to match what he could feel of his own chakra. Thinking of chakra and nature chakra, he knew that the body naturally produced yin and yang chakra, physical and spiritual, that mixed inside of the body to form the normal chakra reserves. Then, for one to enter sage mode, they had to gather enough nature chakra to balance out the equation so to speak. He could feel that his nature chakra that he had gathered thus far was at around two thirds of his maximum chakra levels. This is what he could estimate anyways. Next, one had to remain completely still, which was much harder to accomplish than drawing the chakra in on its own. It was in a human's basic needs to move and be in motion of some sort at all times. This fact in and of itself was what made sage training as difficult a task as it was. This is why most people learned from animal sages or didn't learn it at all, simply because it was such a difficult form to learn and even more difficult to master. But, he could feel that this chakra of his was far superior to nature chakra so he may be able to bypass this to enter sage mode.

It was the moment he achieved the delicate balancing act within himself that he felt it. A calming aura spread around him and he felt at one with everything around him, the air, the desert, the village in the distance. He could sense all the people going about their daily lives and he could feel their chakra, in both quantity and the elemental affinities aligned with them, he could sense the ninja training back in the village, and even out to the Kage tower at the edges of his senses. He also felt his body was far superior to how it had been before. Much like a rush of excess energy that empowered him and gave him the tools he needed to defeat almost any opponent. He felt almost as strong as when he used his Rinnegan, but this was just much more connected to everything. He felt at one with the world, and this granted him strength and insight into the inner workings of a grander picture than he would have ever imagined had he not attained sage mode. So sensing was a major part of this ability, next came the physical enhancement, then there was the strength he could feel, he felt that his chakra had been supercharged and that any jutsu he used would show this.
