Rei Hyuga[Byakugan]

The veins bulged around Rei's eyes as she activated the chakra flow to her Byakugan. Instantly, her vision took on a whole new spectrum of sight as her eyes awakened from normal vision. Here she was again, at the training grounds. Why she kept finding herself coming here instead of staying at the Hyuga clan compound? She wasn't too certain. The air and atmosphere just felt different here, far different than the atmosphere she was used to within the clan. This new change of scenery was a good way for her to vent any frustration and doubt she possessed. Even today as she sought to advance her gifted sight with the Byakugan even further. I need to make a decent amount of progress today. Supposedly there is word coming that there will be a Chuunin exam soon!

Jutsu- Byakugan

Needless to say the least, Rei was excited at the possible news of a Chuunin exam. It was one of her few times to actually shine in the village: she needed as much opportunities as possible to catch up to her best friend Kazue's alarming pace of progression. Kazue was her best friend, but she was also sort of a rival. She was a large goal that Rei sought to strive for. Kazue was the princess of the Uchiha and also the daughter of the Hokage- an enormous role of position and authority. For the daughter of the Hokage, it was a lot of responsibility. These things Rei understood perfectly. though she suspected that kazue had it much harder for her doubly important role within the village and uchiha clan. It was no wonder that the uchiha girl had advanced so quickly at such a young age, pushing herself to her utmost limitations. Likewise, Rei was also training hard, though she knew she had areas of improvement. Thus she was here today learning more about herself and her clan's heritage. Let's see how far I can push it... she said as she strained her Byakugan to see the maximum distance and still make out clear details.

Byakugan

Her Byakugan was considered adept in ability, including range. Her father's and many of the elders possessed Byakugan who were considered treasures in the village. At the moment, she tested her eyes and determined that her maximum effective view distance was one hundred meters. It was a good range, but still quite shallow compared to what her bloodline was capable of. Potentially, she could see ten times farther than currently! I have a long way to catch u to my father and the elders.... she realized, now understanding the gap between age and skill.

Still, she didn't wish to give up. No, rather it only provoked her desire to push herself harder. The "fun" of becoming stronger that there was always a new step just ahead of your most recent advancement. Instead of easily straight forward walking though, it was a game where you had to decipher a means to reach the next step before you could climb higher. For Rei, that was the best kind of game. She focused then on a training dummy a full one hundred meters away, using the ability to scope in on small details to count how many circles its bulls-eye target it had.

Byakugan

There was more than just long range sight to the Byakugan. Naturally, she had grown accustomed to "seeing" all around in the near three hundred sixty degree circumference. There were the other skills as well. Long range, scope vision and thermal vision. The latter idea was something that she had never tried, though she had recently asked her father about it. Her curiosity had intrigued him, but he had also been quizzical, wanting Re to understand for herself how it worked. It was a problem for Rei. She was accustomed to using her eyes, but looking was different than changing how you perceived "looking"

I need something to actually look at for this. Looking at myself won't do me much good i think. True enough, her eyes were all about range and circumference. She would need a distant target to focus her sight upon to learn the maximum benefit. Then, her Byakugan caught sight of small movement about forty meters away. A squirrel scavenging through the grass for twigs. She honed her vision in on the squrrel and blinked while trying to will herself to see its heat rather than its body.

Byakugan

She blinked once, subconsciously and as her eyes opened- she no longer "saw" the squirrel. Instead, she saw a mass of varying heat in the physical shape of the squirrel's body. To her surprise it was a lot easier than she had thought. In comparison, it was like willfully changing the pace of her breathing. While an involuntary action, it could be commanded upon will. Even still, this was a menial task and one that she immediately knew she needed to improve upon. Her sight had been honed in on the squirrel itself and less on the full area of her vision around her. Slowly, she kept her focal point on the squirrel's heat signature but allowed her mind to expand the understanding of her full vision. It was like multitasking. While she looked at the squirrel's body heat, she began to notice other heat signatures from other rodents and small animals n the vicinity. interesting... this will take a moment to process and get used to..
but it's very handy! she was genuinely excited to learn something new about herself. It was strange how a part of you could be taken for granted even when there was so much importance on it already. Like the Byakugan.

Byakugan

The squirrel moved suddenly, re-centering Rei's vision. A lot of concentration and perception was required to take in all of the knowledge she was seeing. It required more than she currently had. She took a mental note. Her mind still needed more practice and discipline. Right at the moment though, she was training her eyes and as the main target of her vision- she focused on the squirrel as it scampered across the grass with a small load of twigs. It was obvious that the little rodent was intending to build a nest somewhere... but where exactly? Thankfully her byakugan could sate her curiosity.

She followed its movements through heat vision, even after its physical body disappeared from sight. The squirrel had found its secret entrance to its lair, a hole near the bottom of a tree with a hollow center. Though gone from physical sight, Rei still kept accurate track of the small creature with her heat vision. Following its little pitter-patter as it climbed near the top of the tree and rested. Presumably adding the twigs to its fortified nest. Curious enough, there was a second heat signature there in the nest. The squirrels are getting ready to start a family huh..

Byakugan

She had learned a lot from this little training event, both about her eyes and her ind's capacity to track multiple things in a multitasking sense. Still, a squirrel hardly counted as proper understanding when her typical foes were humans themselves. Lucky for her, another person entered the training grounds at that moment. Rei half-expected it was Makoto or Kazue, she had met them here by chance on several occasions now... unfortunately, it was neither of them. Just a random stranger, a shinobi of Konoha of little importance. Someone she did not know or recognize.

It was quite different, looking at human physiology rather than small rodent physiology. First of all, humans were many times larger. Second, they possessed more intricate chakra circulatory systems: the latter being less relevant in heat vision due to the primary source being heat and not chakra. Still, it was a gratifying experience to learn from watching the random shinobi as she sat comfortably. Apparantly his heat was really high, a sign that he had recently been in physical exertion- likely training himself. She watched him for several minutes, the shinobi completely unaware that she was watching him from a good seventy meters away. He left soon however and Rei decided that it was time to call her training quits for the day.
