He put his hands back on the sand and tried his hardest to make it rise up again, but nothing was working on that front. No matter what he did he would only go to be a few feet high before it collapsed entirely. He wondered how Hiro did it but then he realized, Hiro was not some sort of a Doton master, he was a SAND user. There was a considerable degree of overlap, but there was no hope of Voltaire being able to have the same ability to manipulate it that his friend had. This meant he was tasked with the difficult task of creating some earth to manipulate. He pushed his hands into the sands,just in front of the mound circle of the fallen sands. His chakra was hardening in a way, becoming the solid ground as he kept on pushing for it to work.

Voltaire pushed harder on the Earth, finding that it was harder to shape up the and to move in general than the sand that he had been trying to use, but he was also noticing that none of it was falling down as he was forming the technique. It was not crawling upwards like when he had to do some of his certain Jutsu pertaining to the elemental releases, but instead the stones that he was creating from his chakra were floating up at high speeds and building the wall, brick by brick. He was worried that the gaps would be an issue, but to his delight he realized that his earth was forming in between the stones like mortar between lain bricks. The finished product left him fully understand why it was Doton, why it was a barrier, why it was earth, why it was a prison, why it was a dome, and even why it was magnificent, but he was having a lot of issues understanding why it was Nothingness at first.

Voltaire quickly realized that he was going to be using this technique very often in combat and with as many creative ways as he could manage when the heavy realization dawned on him as to why that Nothingness was on the name. He felt like there was a suction within the walls, and like some of the spaces in between the stones was the source. There was nothing there for it to pull it in.

It was not aiming for the air, the sand, the moisture, he would not have easily been able to pull any of that in. This was the power of Chakra absorption and it was something of divine might that he would have to always respect if he was going to get anywhere with it, as he was afraid of having his own Chakra completely swamped by just the never ending cost of using something like this. In the name of not allowing himself to fall on this bayonet, he ended the technique as soon as he understood how he was supposed to be using it.
