Tamashikami is a sword unlike any other. It is unable to cause physical harm to any person or item. If it is swung to hit anything it simply passes right through them. Instead of cutting something physically, this blade cuts chakra. When this blade passes through a jutsu it cuts off the user of the jutsu's chakra that is supplying it. If it passes through a person, it will slice off a portion of their chakra.  If it comes into contact with any form of chakra, it cuts through it.  It is able to slice this chakra through the use of its singular jutsu.

Description: At the expense of an equal amount of chakra, this blade is able to sever any chakra from jutsu or person that it is able to touch. It is unable to cause physical harm and is limited to this singular ability. An example of this, would be if someone used a jutsu they could control, such as a Wood dragon or an Earth Golem. This sword lacks the ability to physically damage the technique, but it severs the casters control of the jutsu. If you shot a wood dragon and it was cut, the dragon would continue to move, but while the caster isn't able to control it anymore it still is just as devistating whenever it lands. This sword is the most useful against chakra constructs as it can actually damage them. For an equal cost of the rank of jutsu it is cutting, it is able to sever pieces off of chakra constructs.

Finally, if this technique is used on someone who is using a sustained jutsu, by using the same amount of chakra as rank of the opponent's jutsu, the user can release the jutsu and restrict the opponent's access to it for five posts.  If the opponent is using a technique that affects someone else, such as a Genjutsu or Healing technique, the user can achieve the same effect by striking the person they are affecting.

The user can swing the sword and send a blade of chakra in the shape of a crescent, which would have the same effect as if the blade itself was used to make the attack.

There is a Senjutsu version of this technique that allows the user to do one of two things - cut the chakra connection of Senjutsu techniques, just as it does with basic techniques, and, additionally, if it strikes someone using Sage Mode, the user can sacrifice an amount of chakra equal to the level Sage Mode being used to sever their connection to Nature Chakra, expelling that chakra from their body and making them unable to connect to Nature Chakra for five more posts.
