Mountain Tripping [solo,nk]

Speed was all very well and good, as was strength. Kozura thought to herself, as she raced across the sands again. She'd been thinking about heading off to the Holy Land to undergo the rituals. It was almost time; she could feel the Little People within her, ready to ripen. All they needed was the blessing of the gods and the right environment with the right chemicals. Still, with the current lack of a standing kage, all she could do was wait. There was nobody from whom she could request permission to go and undergo the adulthood ceremonies of her people.

So, for the time being, she was as a chysalis, abiding the winter. Kozura had felt true winter before. She'd been in the mountains for a few months, so it wasn't like she had spent her entire life in the hot sandy desert. The mountains were different. She felt out of place in them, even though they were Sunagakure property. Well, she would just have to make them hers. That was where she was headed to now. Hell, who knew? Maybe the four tails would appreciate the gesture. Volcanos were mountains after all, right? It should be thankful that she was giving it a change of scenery.

The desert was a wide expanse, but as Kozura pulled on more and more of the beast's power, she found that she could cross it faster than she could normally. So, she was correct in her early assessment that this was a measure that she could use to enhance her own body. Pretty good. She could feel the sand under her toes getting more coarse as time went on. So, the material of it was changing. She must be running pretty fast for her to be able to actively feel these changes so quickly. Any slower, and the changes would be been more gradual, leading her very human perception to simply ignore them.

She was almost done unwrapping that layer of the monkey's power, but what came afterward? It was hard if not impossible for her to tell. For sure, more power, but considering that it was in a layer of the beast that was much harder to access, what lay within? What kind of techniques could she derive from it? And most importantly, could she communicate well with the beast, rather than having it be an incomprehensible mass of rage and power given form? Only time would tell. Perhaps it would be today.

The red aura expanded out around her as she ran, and flared slightly as she leapt, her body soaring over a large sand dune. Same old same old, she told herself. Monkeys didn't fly, and such a thing was rather bizarre for someone who belonged amongst the sands, but it sure would have been a nice little bonus in combat. Oh well. Flight was not for her. She did feel, however, that she could do a little better. She began to tug harder at the last bit of the bijuu's power, and felt an even greater resistance than before. Not really an anger or frustration, but more of a reluctance.

What, was the monkey getting tired of being where it was? If it wanted to do something about the situation that it was in, it should take action! Her tribe had always taught her that apathy and boredom and such were the fault of the individual, not of their surroundings. With these thoughts, she attempted to egg on the beast, but to little avail. It seemed that communications both ways were going to be somewhat difficult until she managed to establish a better connection between the two of them, of course.

She reached the foot of the mountains in no time, looking up with a scowl at the high peaks and the snowy caps. She supposed that the desert owed a good portion of its existence to these mountains, given that they caused the rain shadow that left this area high and dry from the incoming downpours. Nevertheless, that didn't mean that she had to like them, right? She began to leap up the sheer side of the first mountain, aiming to get to the top. A new environment would help her training, maybe, and make the four tails more pliant to her commands.
As if on cue, the remaining power that had been pulling back on her suddenly released as she reached the peak of the mountain, coursing through her chakra network like a deluge unleashed. She was somewhat taken aback, but realized that this meant that the bijuu was finally ready to talk. Having completely removed the first layer, she could now find that the connection between them was much more clear than it had been before. She could fully "see" the bijuu behind its cage now. Conversely, it could also see her. Well, this would be interesting without a doubt.

The beast first gave off a low growl of disdain, and then spoke to her.

“NAME?” What a condescending prick. Didn’t bother to offer a greeting of any kind. Still, Kozura stood firm in the face of this prideful monkey.

“Hmph, that’s my line, ape.” She thought using such an epithet on him would have caused some kind of sting or insult, but the monkey only seemed to puff itself up even more. Looks like it was proud of what it was.

“YOU ANSWER A QUESTION WITH A QUESTION, HAIRLESS ONE? I’LL WIPE THE FLOOR WITH YOU!”

“Like hell you will. You can’t set foot beyond that sealing formation, and you know it. Besides, you know full well that I bested you, and that I am now your master! Very well, then. If you refuse to identify yourself, then I shall do so for you.”

She pushed back against the sudden onslaught of the bijuu’s will, her own blue aura flaring against the red like a tongue of fire searing its way from the mountain peak.

“You are Yonbi of the Sand, a mere grunt! You shall be under my supervision as my subordinate, not even worthy to serve on the frontlines! Receive thy designation!”
