Why Not Now? [solo,nk]

It was a dubious venture to get used to urban life. Kozura remembered how astounded she was when she had first come to the village. Actual, permanent buildings that could handle the desert climate? It struck her as being a gift from the gods of some kind. Sure, it took some getting used to, since Sunagakure didn’t move around in a nomadic fashion, but it wasn’t bad at all. There were some comforts that she just couldn’t stand (like the two inch carpet in some buildings?! She felt like she was sinking on solid ground), but she could see why the city folk viewed the tribes as being primitive.
Nevertheless, she was pretty sure she outclassed everyone else in sheer martial prowess. Sure, there were some with massively impressive jutsu, but many of those now meant nothing to her, what with the dark power of the Tusked God. And in terms of physical attacks, she was unmatched as far as she knew. Only the clan elders, who had gone all the way to the Gate of Death to wipe out the Southern Nomadic Conglomerate (or whatever they had called themselves at the time) were probably stronger than she. How to explain her progress? Who knew.

Now, with this huge increase in stamina, she had no need to train her chakra power further for the moment. All that was needed was to attempt with that four tailed monkey that the sandy kid had so briskly sealed within her. Kinky, she remarked to herself sarcastically as she closed her eyes and attempted to reach out again. Naturally, all she was met with was a roaring mass of power. A power she couldn't quite reach yet. It was a little frustrating that she couldn't just dominate this creature, but considering how powerful it'd been when it had a physical form, it wasn't quite out of the question that it would have an exceptional willpower as well.

So, what to do? Well, she supposed she could just try to chip away at it daily. Eventually, the sheer force and persistence of human will would erode the beast's resistance, and she'd be able to show it who the boss really was. There were a few options, however. For example, a temporary fix. She couldn't crush the beast in her mental grip, but she could pull and tug at it some while she learned more about how it really worked. This seemed like a much better idea.

She didn't quite know his name yet, but she soon would. Well, maybe. It had exhibited strategy against the village, and some level of tactics against her, though it had been too arrogant for it's own good. Despite her (very) young appearance, Kozura was not a force to be trifled with, as the damn monkey had found out. Nevertheless, she began to infiltrate it's mind rather than slamming into it with brute force. This didn't meet with results that were nearly as dramatic, but they did the trick nonetheless. Bit by bit, a small piece of the beast's power began to drift into her control.
The beast didn't seem to like it though. It had noticed what Kozura was trying, and started to pull back. Hey, this was actually getting hard. She could almost see the monkey, in a state of panic, realizing that she'd figured out the trick to mastering it. Or at least, mastering a little bit of it.
She had realized, though, that this was just like trying to tie down a sand worm, something that her tribe had done quite frequently back in the day. Worms meant water, and water meant life. Worms also had special secretions in their tunnels.

These secretions could be recombined with other chemicals to create something special to the Western Nomadic Tribe: Das Freude, a potent cultivation pill. Well, she supposed that the people here would consider it to be some form of drug, but that was ignorant. It was a special gift, originally handed down to them from the gods, and to put it in such a class would be sacrilege. Nevertheless, there was no denying that it had certain peculiar effects on the mind and body. Those unworthy of it became twisted and deadened inside (as seen with the Central Oasis branch some decades before when they had attempted to steal it for themselves.)

She reached in her pouch and took one, and immediately, the connection between her and the beast became that much more clear. It was almost like the pill had been made for situations like these. How convenient, she thought to herself. She hadn't gone through the appropriate rituals, but given that the beast was pulling back on her power, she felt that she could dispense with them for once. Necessity trumped formality, especially when that formality, as she had been told in the last moments by the village elders, was purely ceremonial.

With this, she had succeeded in taking some of the power. The beast roared something incomprehensible at her, but she ignored it for now. It could scream and rage all it wanted, but Kozura was the host here. She was in control. She played around with the power some, noting its hot, sticky consistency. This was a weapon that she could turn to her own use, yes, but it was also something she could use to make her own body more powerful. Sure, it wasn't much at the moment, not enough strong enough to rival the higher gates, but she knew that it was just one piece of many that she could try to draw out.
She came to understand, now, what kind of training the sandy kid must have gone through, if he had been called a jinchuuriki of the village. She wondered what his beast was like, and how strong it was. Doubtless, he had a much greater mastery over it than she did over hers currently, but that was no issue. Soon, she'd catch up to him and surpass him with ease. It was just a matter of time, she thought to herself, as she clenched her fist, causing the red aura to bubble up and collect there.
