Missions for two? Kirito meets a princess! [REI]

Mission:

Kirito woke up with a fire in his belly. He had been training non-stop for weeks and he needed to put his training to the test in more than just friendly, or even not so friendly spars. He needed to take on a mission that would prove to be difficult. As he made his way to the gates of the village, he quickly read over the mission he had taken up. It was an Assassination contract on a local mayor to a small township in yhe land of fire.

As he made his way towards the western gate of Konohagakure, he steeled himself mentally to do whatever needed to be done for this mission.

In terms of clothing, our short twelve year old Jinchūriki had on his normal black gi, tied by a white sash. Over this he wore a white haori that came down midway past his knee. On the back was the Kanji for three. His white hair was as always, simply unkempt with a strand or two hanging over his forehead. His blue eyes held a determination that was commonly found in them these days.

Word had been sent to Rei the night before, that she would be accompanying another shinobi on a difficult mission. Of course with her family, information about the mission had been established even before the official mission was received by Rei. As such, when the messenger had been dispatched to the hyuga compound, Rei was not at all surprised when she was given the mission, nor the details of the mission. After the messenger had left, she sent out two Branch family scouts to survey the intended village. By the next morning when Rei was dressing for the early morning mission. She stood naked in her room, a think silhouette wall separated her from the vision of her servants who sat comfortable and addressed their princess. "M'Lady, we scouted out that town. We will now report to you our information." one female said as she elaborated in detail, nearly matching the details of the mission.

Rei dressed in her usual attire. A black haori, white sash, black shinobi sandals and a white overcoat bearing her family's crest. Her ninja tool pouches and scrolls were secured to the inside of her jacket and her lower back. "Good work you two. Go eat and rest up. i am going now to meet up with the leader of our mission." she would say, dismissing her attendants. Rei had never met Kirito before, so she didn't know what to expect. She did assume however that this Kirito was a capable shinobi for this mission and wouldn't slow her down. Though a Genin, she had been signed as support on this A Rank mission. Now fully dressed and ready to go, she would head out before the sun had graced warmth across the village. She would arrive before Kirito at the gate and wait for him patently. Finally he would approach and she would look him up and down. Not impressed but neither disappointed by his appearance. "Rei Hyuga. I am accompanying you on this mission." she would say, introducing herself.

Kirito hadn't been aware that another person had been assigned to accompany him on this mission. The woman had been waiting for him at the gate, she introduced herself as Rei Hyuga. Her surname sounded familiar, but for the life of him, Kirito just couldn't remember where he had heard of it before. But, he just pushed it to the back of his mind, it probably wasn't too important anyways. Isobu would facepalm from within the seal, though none present would know. "It is nice to meet you Rei-san. I am Kirito Samejima. I am assuming you have been brought up to speed on what exactly our mission is?" He decided to get straight down into business after getting the pleasantries out of the way. 

After she would answer him, he would begin the process of working up a strategy for them to work together. "What are your skill sets? I am a ninjutsu user who is primarily skilled at heavy damage attacks or defense. My greatest strengths would be my physical strength and speed even without any augmentations I can apply." He hoped he covered everything important and would wait patiently for her to respond as they had most likely already set out towards the village of their destination.

Curious enough, Kirito dressed in a manner of clothing very similar to Rei's own clothing. All the way down to the white overcoat. Rei found that a pleasant surprise for some unknown reason. She didn't ponder over it long though, surely he himself would see the uncanny resemblence. Instead, she responded to his greeting with a very formal bow and then proceeded to display her own information about the mission. "A local village has requested their tyranical mayor to be assassinates. My Branch family tells me that he has fortified the small town's walls, has a sharp curfew just before sunset, five jounin level bodyguards total... and he personally can be found inside his office building on the far Northwest side of the village." she would say, giving more information than even the village scouts had obtained before the mission had been accepted by Konoha.

As they began to make their way towards the small village along a main road, Kirito would begun to inquire about Rei's strengths. It was a good call and Rei was about to do the same. She listened to his own skills and then replied in turn. "I have above average Jounin speed and perceptive specialties.. my physical strength is about average for a Chuunin. I specialize in Ninjutsu and Taijutsu, though I have adequate skill in Genjjtsu, Bukijutsu and Fuinjutsu as well. I focus on intelligence gathering, then swife brutal attacks from my Gentle Fist and Scorch Release." she would say at length and proceed to discuss some strategies until they would reach the little town. Instantly she would actovate her byakugan and look the village over to ensure that there were no other variables to include in the mission parameters. "Most of the villagers are inhabiting the outer area of the village near the walls. The mayor and his guards inhabit the center and Northwest portion of the town where the mayor's office is located." judging by the light in the sky, they had about an hour before the sun set. Which meant that about now would start curfew. The mayor's bodyguards would begin to inspect the village. Now was the opportune time to strike while the guards were divided. The question was. Did Kirito wish to take out all the guards as well, or stealthily assassinate the mayor and let the village mobs lynch the bodyguards?

So, she had a bit more intel than he himself had been provided. This proved to be useful as they now knew where he would be and what to expect when they went to confront him. It was getting dark and the curfew of the village was about to begin, which would mean that no civilians would be getting in their way. They had two real options here, kill all the guards to stop any potential reinforcements from being called in, or attempt to stealthily assassinate the mayor and his guardsmen before they could raise an alarm. Which to choose? As mission leader this decision fell on him, and the fate of the mission itself truly did rest upon the outcome of this single decision. 

"I think we should move through the town and execute the guards on patrol. This will cover our backs if somehow we fail to kill the mayor and his guards before they are able to raise an alarm. I will handle the eastern and northern areas of the village, you take out any and all guards in the southern and western areas of the village. We will meet on the roof of the mayors building as soon as we finish." With that, after waiting for her response, input or questions, he would take off to begin his portion of the hell raising. 

His first few targets had been taken out swiftly and from the shadows, hiding their bodies so no other enemies would come across them. The next two enemies were killed by being frozen in a sudden pillar of ice. In total, by the time he made it to the rendezvous point, he had killed around fifty of the guards. He would wait patiently for her to arrive if she had not already done so.

She was not the mission leader, but she knew that the decision made by Kirito was of sound judgment. She had done her part in obtaining useful information... an of course her Byakugan was an added bonus for this mission. She was just a Genin however, her skill aside. Perhaps this Jounin was overestimating her ability because he  had realized that she was wise and shrewd beyond her years. Then again, she was confident with her own capabilities and perhaps this was a chance given to her to prove her worth. The Jounin Kirito had tasked her with eliminating the patrol on the Southern and Western portion of the village. No small feat for a single shinobi, but she aspired to become ANBU. If she couldn't accomplish something like this, then she didn't deserve the position, title or responsibilities associated with ANBU.

After they agreed upon their strategy, the two of them would split up in opposite directions. With her Byakugan however, she could keep track of Kirito and his targets. She worked a mirrored path to him, positioning herself to his kills to maximize their time between patrol rotations. Where Kirito would kill one guard, Rei would follow across the street on her side and eliminate any patrol that might have stumbled upon Kirito's victims. Killing came more easily to Kirito than Rei- not because of moral conviction, but because of skill. Rei was a genin after all and though her speed was unparalleled by anyone her age, her strength was lacking. Thus she had to rely more on skill and swiftness than brute strength. A pressure point here and there on her targets to disable and silence them- then a kunai straight through their eyes to the brain. Quick efficient and silent, she took out around thirty of the patrol. By the time the two of the Konoha shinobi would arrive on the roof of the mayor's building: an uneasy silence had enveloped the small village. Her byakugan in the dark would have seen Kirito even before he had arrived. SHe had positioned herself directly above where the mayor was currenly positioned. When Kirito would arrive, she would silently point downward and ready herself to pounce upon the Jounin's actions.

Kirito would arrive to find Rei waiting for him on the roof of the building. She had performed exceptionally as he had thought that she would. Her attitude betrayed her true strength which was a sense of practicality. She pointed downwards upon his arrival and he knew it was to signal that she was above the mayor himself. He could tell she knew this now because he finally recognized her Byakugan after noticing the veins protruding around her eyes. He could tell that she was ready to strike upon a moments notice and was merely waiting for him to give the signal. He assumed that the guards themselves were either positioned around the mayor with at least three meters of space, or around the room to block any potential entrances. He thought the latter was the most likely. So, upon making eye contact with Rei, he would hold up a hand with three fingers held up. Counting down from there, when he made a fist, he would slam it down onto the rooftop causing the ceiling to cave in. 

He knew Rei had seemed ready to go for the target himself, so he would go for the five guards. Creating four shadow clones they would each form a rasengan and rush a guard with the spiralling ball in hand. With a Rasengan to the face, survival is not likely, so the guards would be dealt with swiftly. Kirito would then turn his eyes to Rei to see how exactly the woman decided to deal with their actual target.

The expression on her face was all it had taken to convet the vital information currently beneath them. Her face had relayed the message along with her hand signal. She could tell by the somber expression on Kirito's face, that he understood as well and was ready to rock and roll. His palm touched the roof and the building material gave way to the Jounin's touch. Rei had already scouted out the guards in the room and Kirito's shadow clones would be more than adequate to hand le them. While Kirito made his move, Rei too moved with urgency. Her target, the tyranical major of the small village.

The removal of the roof piece had been mostly silent, only a slight thudding sound had alerted the drowsy guards and the mayor. Feeling secure in their little fortress, surrounding by several score of men... they were slow to realize their predicament. Let alone to react accordingly. Rei would slip through the hole in the roof and pounce on the man with her small frame. Her movement had been unnaturally swift for her rank as a Genin. The sudden surprise attack, coupled with her speed and the very short distance between her and her foe, allowed for a quick successful attack. Two fingers stretched out behind her, she would suddenly jab the extended index and middle finge forward like a blade. Her fingers sinking deep into the mayor's skull as though he had been stabbed by a knife. The light left the man's eyes and Rei caught herself before the corpse's shoulders she had been sitting on, had fuller fallen to the floor. By now shoulders hehe hoped Kirito had taken care of the guards and would be ready to make a hasty retreat.

Upon seeing her take down their target, Kirito was more than ready to retreat back to the village. He didn't particularly enjoy the taking of lives, but he realized that in a world such as this, it was either to take lives or to give of one's own life to continue to feed the cycle. He would follow Rei in their retreat until they had made it back to the village and then, went their separate ways. He would always remember the time that he spent with the Hyuuga princess. He saw many great things in her future, she was surely a fine kunoichi. 

He would return to his hotel after claiming his rewards from the mission. He was amassing quite the little fortune of his own making, but he knew that he would need to spend it for SOMETHING eventually, so he wouldn't get too attached. He wondered if maybe he was feeling at home here in the Leaf Village as he had been here for a number of weeks, he didn't want to decide yet though as he had only visited three of the five great villages.
