Ninjutsu Training in the Merchants Oasis

Voltaire was feeling powerful, prepared, and ready for anything that could happen in this world. The harsh desert winds whipped around his slender frame and threw around his brilliant cloak as well as his fluffy bright blonde hair, but he refused to let the force of the wind budge his person. He was feeling powerful, but a nagging in the back of his head kept telling him that his weakness in Ninjutsu would always prevent him from being a truly splendid shinobi. His pokey spider puppet was hanging from his shoulder as it so often was, but this time it would not be getting any use. This place was special to his heart, it was where he threw his tantrum to be allowed to come and study in the ninja academy. It was a long and thin oasis, a few yards long and a couple of feet wide. There were a few palm trees on either side of the oasis. They were each a few yards high and leaned away from the water. Voltaire threw up one hand sign and shouted, “TRANSFORMATION JUTSU!” A cloud of white smoke surrounded him and then it dissipated, leaving Voltaire looking like an enormous black clad man wearing a Konohagakure no Sato forehead protector. The training was ready to begin.

Voltaire, now discernible as himself only by the pokey spider puppet perched on his shoulder, formed another hand sign. “Clone jutsu!” Voltaire yelled out in his own voice, and then another Voltaire, one who still looked like himself, but one entirely without physical substance appeared below the top of the nearest palm tree. The clone was not real, and it not casting any shadow was now more obvious than ever with the intensity of the noon sun slamming down on everything. But this would be ignored, the purpose of this clone was to test out his skill in Ninjutsu. He charged the copy of himself, and the clone put up his guard as if he could really take that hit.

As soon as Voltaire reached the clone it went from en guard to offensive, extending one of those arms to throw a clumsy but quick punch. Being weightless, the clone could move a bit more quickly than Voltaire could. He formed a hand seal right as the fist would have connected had it been real, and what happened then looks extremely real. Voltaire used the substitution Jutsu, but for obvious reasons did not shout out his intentions this time around. What appeared to be a real fist hitting a real leaf ninja appeared, but then a coconut fell down to the ground. Just then, the real Voltaire descended from above to attack his clone self.

The clone, reacting to Voltaire's intentions, spared no time in countering the dilemma of the raining foreign threat. He jumped backwards, allowing Voltaire to fall in front of him. The clone formed a hand sign simply for the effect while Voltaire formed the hand sign himself to initiate a technique on the clone's behalf. Three more clones, all looking like Voltaire when he was not in his transformation were created instantly. They too had no mass, but as soon as he hit the ground they tackled him and started to beat on him. With the first blow that never really landed, Voltaire broke the transformation technique to add to the effect. The continued their fake waling on him for some time, as the enemy really did need to be roughed up to the point of complete pacification, being left disabled for the rest of their time unable to serve as shinobi, or death. The first clone that he created walked up to him and chuckled darkly. “Not even I can beat a ninja of my magnificence!”

“My thoughts exactly,” Voltaire said with a smirk before releasing all of his active techniques and laying down on the sand. He was very sore from the landing, but that was nothing serious thanks to the cushion of a thousand small stones that made up his desert home land.

Content with what he has done for the day, Voltaire dusts himself off and heads back for the home front.
