Shiny crystallized sand still was everywhere. The faster the sand became, the faster it was crystallized by the young Shoton user.
There was no time for Yin to allow her teammates to catch up to her, much to her regret. While she would have loved to lend the small Muko an explosive tag, he would have to settle with her buying him a drink later. Nothing alcoholic, naturally, as she was certain that the two of them were far too young, but who would pass up a cold soda?

She avoided the shield meant for protection. The girl hated being caged in, finding herself slightly claustrophobic and uneasy. It reminded her too much of her past, being kept in a mediocre palace, too far away from the world. Being caved in with her own crystals was fine in her eyes, seeing as the crystals were all made or converted by her own chakra; it was like being surrounded by herself. Which was frightening for some people, the very idea of being surrounded by themselves, but comforting to the young Yin.

Apart from that, however, the explosion was successful and had been instantaneous. It seemed that Hiro had gotten a shield up in time, which she completely expected. Just as quickly as his sand shield went up, it would crystallize, and instantly from there, something else would happen. Handseals having been done as soon as she saw the sand protect him, and before it was crystallized, the instant crystallized shield would shoot strong and deadly needles at the sand user. They too were instant and could home in on him for up to two hundred meters. However, such a range would likely not be needed, as they were of the crystallized sand shield which was right before him.

These many needles, hundreds, would aim for the young Hiro. Upon even being hit by one, clusters of crystals would begin to grow on the opponent. It would start from where he was hit, and hinder him greatly based on that. His blood would begin to crystallize, likely causing severe pain and slowing him down by a decent amount.

Her teammates need not worry about being crushed from within their barrier, the sand around was completely crystallized, as more sand had not been created. At the same time the shield was crystallized, just before the needles, the crystallization would continue and solidify the gourd, render the rest of his sand and the sand-made gourd useless.

Kiraku was pretty proud of himself for thinking up of that fiery counter, which seemed to take his foe by unawares; as he had planned. Yet, the middle foe’s the barrier put a stop to any more pride. His eyes took in the sheer confluence of chakra, his irises revolving at the sight of his foe’s ninjutsu; his form embedded in the back of his mind. His eyes took back their black sheen his body releasing itself from the toll of the crimson eyes. The barrier took the brunt of the fiery blazing wind; slamming against its gleaming surface, His comrade and the leaf shinobi seemed to be in one piece, the jinjuriki heaving sand at a speed that even he needed his Sharingan to track well. The leaf shinobi seemed to be all right after, his knockoff seemingly a faint.

The blazing torrent’s damage seemed to be fixing itself, the cracks disappearing as soon as they appeared. It was near the apex of his prowess with Katon, unsure what else he could do more to take down the barrier. Although his chakra reserves were not taxed; it seemed like this combat was going to be out for the long haul. Palming in three shuriken in his right hand, he hung back; vigilant against whatever his foe could throw at him. Hopefully, the Jinjuriki could handle it before things escalated too much, a wish that seemed to be their only hope of victory.

While it seemed annoying to him that he wasn't able to get over to ask about using his teammates potential equipment as opposed to his own, her avoidance of his technique forced his hand so to speak. The one identified now beyond the shadow of a doubt as the Jinchuuriki of the Ichibi, was piling sand over his barrier in some attempt to destroy it, though this barrier healed itself of such attacks, it made escape a very difficult thing to do. He would need to use the replacement technique, followed by his initial plan. Forming two shadow clones, each would preform the replacement technique with some of the crystals created in Yin's initial attack, appearing outside of the layered sand funeral each clone and the original would pull out an explosive tag and throw it towards the ceiling. Forming a single handseal, the tags would all multiply into a grand total of 300 explosive tags flying to the ceiling. When they touched the roof of the room, they would explode, causing the roof to cave in. "Sorry kids, but playtime is over." Muko's face would melt away to reveal his abnormal appearance and his unusually large smile. "Black Sun will be intervening in these exams, try not to die!" With a laugh that sounded as though it came from a young child, he would end his barrier technique allowing the pyramid to collapse, regardless of whether Jin had escaped or not. He would then wait for some form of reaction. He also made sure to keep his eye on that Jounin proctor, though he seemed more focused on the Jinchuuriki at the moment.

Before we get to the roof all collapsing, let’s revise a tad to clarify the unjust voiding and simply ignoring the gigantic elephant in the arena.

Remember the part where a couple of things happened and the sand user actually got super powerful by using the sage mode? That was fun but not for Jin. The sand did genuinely, actually and quite easily caught up to him because it was that speedy. And I’d like to mention, it was overpowering too, so Jin was pretty much caught and that was it for him. That was, until the explosion the happened. And since the timing was so good that the moment the sand touched him, Yin used her crystal explosion and bam! The sand was pushed away from Jin. So that’s how he was saved from a powerful and speedy sandy end.

Now that wasn’t the huge elephant in the arena. The elephant is a simple fact: the sand is getting continuously crystallized. I’ve mentioned this so many times, the crystal user has said that but simply ignoring it does not make it go away. Not mentioning it, does not void it. It did happen and it continuously happened. You may be thinking: “yeah but there’s just so much sand”. Well, there’s continuous crystallization so all of it kept getting turned into crystals. Another fun part to consider, the sand is finite in amount. Yes, this may come as a surprise but it’s not endless. When it got speedier, it also implied that it turned into crystals faster because the contact with the crystal element user was never broken. So, at first there was quite a bit of radius of the arena floor where the sand was crystallized. Then there was the incident with the explosion and then there was more crystallization. I hope at this point, you get the picture.

So what happens next? Well, you know that thing with the sand pyramid? Yeah, that cannot happen because all of the sand is crystallized now. Do you expect the equal ranked crystal user to be so slow that it won’t catch up to the finite amount of sand? If the sand user had broken contact at some point or had they begun to generate more sand, I’d say there would be sand but sorry, they never did that so it’s all gone now; it’s all crystal.

With that established, let’s hop onto the present. As there was no sand turning into a pyramid and what not, Jin remained focused on the enemy. However, what happened next was completely unexpected and shocking. He turned to look at Muko, who did strange movements. What did he plan to do by throwing a kunai with an explosive tag to the roof? In his confusion, Jin looked at the kunai and noticed it turn into 300 kunai; striking the roof. At that moment, he could only make out the words “Black Sun” because most of Muko’s dialog was cut out for him due to the sound of the explosion and the falling debris.

Now, who and why and what were all valid questions indeed but immediately, the survival instinct kicked in. The only thing Jin’s mind could compile were two things either get near the sand guy or get near Yin; both would easily protect themselves from the falling roof. However, Jin could do stuff too. He was pretty durable and strong too. So he retrieved the kunais from his long coat with explosive tags and began throwing them towards the big chunks of falling debris.

There was no way for him to put them back up there but he could turn them into small ones to prevent serious damage. So, he launched one after the other and targeted 10 large pieces using the kunais with explosive tags as he arrived right beside Yin. By this time, he had made sure that the debris falling over the two of them were only small little pieces and the big ones had been targeted with his kunai and explosive tags.
