| Voltaire had progressed a bit over a month into his self imposed solitary confinement, and the gathering of certain resources was becoming more and more difficult. He had been staying hydrated off of the blood of the animals that he was killing, but his medical knowledge told him very clearly how dangerous this was. An iron overload would be enough to stop the heart of the person drinking the blood if true vampirism was ever strove for. He searched for some time and found a large dip in the ground between several sand dunes. He leaned back, pulling chakra into his stomach and trying to mix it with the fluids inside of his body. Those were lacking as he had sweat most of them out under the weight of his many fabrics, but the vanity had not yet been baked out of him. | |

| As the chakra from the core of his body began to interact with the fluids of his own body, to recognize them, and to recognize what made them wet, water was being created. The Chakra, ancient beyond the body that stored and fed it, was able to come to an intimate and physical understanding of the chemical compounds that Voltaire had only scholarly knowledge of. And with that deep knowledge the chakra was able to take itself, an energy, and to birth from it a physical form that so perfectly imitated oxygen and hydrogen at just the right amounts and proportions that true water could be formed. It piled on and on itself, filling first his stomach, and this his intestines, slowly filling his entire digestive system as though it was actually an interconnected system of water balloons. Though he had issues with the idea of expelling it, as his body started to soak it all up selfishly and desperately from his thirst, the dehydration of the desert broken up by the oasis that he had created inside of his own body. He felt desperate, almost deluded by his need for more hydration, but as it almost sloshed into his lungs his medical knowledge reminded him of yet another risk in this form of staying hydrated. | |

| The water came out, though Voltaire was trying his best to make absolutely sure that this release remained an intently controlled one. The water leaked from his lips, as he tried his hardest to keep his lips sealed, through the pressure was becoming difficult to keep inside of himself. His mid section began to ache, though the pain was slowly receding as the water poured into the dip in the sand. The water changed the shape of the sand as it moved, cutting into it and pulling it down with it as it flowed. He had let out a gallon or two at most, but the dry desert reacted to it so quickly, so readily, as though through out the centuries without any proper rain the terrain still held memory of what it was to do when faced with water.
The small body of water he was creating pooled at the bottom, about a foot wide and four inches deep. As it grew it glistened so beautifully, so naturally, as though this dip was meant specifically for the purpose of this puddle, it was destiny, some sort of a desert based aquatic kismet that Voltaire was put on this Earth to fulfill. It was nonsense, but fancying himself as an engine of one of time's necessary moments was something that got Voltaire through training.

| As the water evacuated his body at higher and higher speeds it started to splash his clothes, refreshing him somewhat from the cooling effects. However, these were nice clothes. He closed his mouth back up, his teeth hurting as they were almost knocked out from the pressure, though they were now very clean, absolutely pearly white, somewhat amusing with the state of how dirty the rest of his body now was. He slowly disrobed, getting down to his underpants. He sloshed around in an unbalanced mess, almost falling into the dip between the dunes as he removed his boots. When he looked down the water had almost all already evaporated, and most of what hadn't had already been soaked into the sand. The great terror of the moment was that he would slip into there and that water would no longer be there to break his fall. As it was the only way to both make him stop being a clutz and to make that fear less real, he started once more to release that water. | |

| Voltaire's second attempt at releasing the water was far less cautious than the prior, allowing the water to be let out the way that it was meant to be for this technique to be used in combat, released with terrific force and speed. What had initially been a river cutting into and dragging down the grains of sand along the slope, now took the form of an intimidating waterfall that tore away at the dune Voltaire stood on, stripping away layers of sand that had remained untouched for what may have been hundreds or even thousands of years, all awaiting the arrival of a man who dared to tell the desert to stop being so gosh darn dry.
The sand at the bottom of the dip also changed and shifted at tremendous speeds. It widened, it deepened, and it flattened out at the bottom as the water continued to bore downwards. At the end of the stream, which happened in moments but felt like hours when it was coming out of one's mouth, there was a true body of water. It was forty feet wide and ten feet deep at the center. But there was one issue, Voltaire could not swim and his dune's tip had collapsed into it.

| Voltaire struggled as hard as he could, gripping tight into the sand as it also fell, his hands continuing to grab at the highest handful of sand that he found in his reach, though that kept on being lower and lower. His bare feet went first, kicking wildly and splashing around hopelessly. He slipped down head and all, his face stuck into the sand as he went, the small grains scraping him somewhat, his head bobbing back up but never staying up long enough for one or two breaths before he fell back into the water. His body was still weak from dehydration, an irony which would have been lost on him unless it was somebody else struggling against the water, but his nose was full of water. He attempted to kick off of the wall of sand but found all that he did was temporarily get his ankles stuck in the sands. He then kicked up hard with both feet. This left him floating on the surface of the water, his underside being soaked while the front of him was being cooked by the heat of the sun.
Not wanting the situation to stay as it was, Voltaire lifted up his feet and positioned himself so that the soles of his feet pressed against the surface of the water. He then started to apply very carefully maintained chakra, mostly pushing away from the surface of the water and trying to create a layer of energy that would lift him off of the water. With some struggle, he managed to lift himself up, and standing right side up he made a B-line for the shore, jumping back to the top of the dune and looking back at the water as though it had done something to him
post 1/1 Name: Water Surface Walking Practice Rank: E-rank Type: Ninjutsu Element: None Range: Close Description: This training method is used to gain better chakra control. To do this, the user has to be emitting a constant stream of chakra from the bottom of their feet and using the repellent force to walk across the water's surface. This technique is more difficult to master than the Tree Climbing Practice, because the amount of chakra that needs to be emitted changes constantly. It has also been shown that one can use their chakra to "skate" across the water surface, like an ice skater, instead of just walking or running. It is noted, that shinobi reach a state where they stand on water without even noticing it or basically even trying.

| Voltaire looked up at the sun and grew tired of its persistence in beating down on him. Already standing on the water, Voltaire decided that it would be wise to make further use of it, to really spread it out across every possible dimension of his little world. The chakra extended from just between himself and the surface of the water to cover much of the artificial oasis that he had made. Of course not every inch of the layer of chakra that he had over the water was nearly as thick as it was beneath his own two feet, for this task would not need nearly the concentration needed for keeping oneself afloat.
In fact, the very heat that he was in the process of getting away from was now working to aid him as the sun beat down hard on the water's surface. The solar rays above the body of water as well as the hot sand below it worked together to heat up the water, turning it into steam for him. Voltaire thickened this by pulling up on the water on the surface where his chakra touched, adding mist to the steam until a cool fog began to form.

| As the mist began to rise up from the surface of the man made oasis the sun was blocked out brilliantly; Voltaire's body was quickly thrown into a state of extreme relief when the water began to collect on his dry body, filling his mouth and soaking his thirsty pores. Though, the forces of the desert worked aggressively against him no matter how hard he worked on maintaining the mist. As much as he was able to produce, nearly that very amount would be carried up into the cloudless sky by the heat of the sun and the majority of that which remained rolled down the surrounding dunes to shade the lifeless desert instead of the man who created it.
In the stead of creating more and more mist, Voltaire worked to concentrate and control that which he had remaining on top of his watering hole. The small dose of his chakra that he had used to pull the water up into the air still existed in that mist, and he therefore could maintain some level, no matter how small, of control over that mist. He pulled it all towards him as hard as he could, and then he found that it settled there with no further force, protecting him from the aggressive beams of the sun, and finally freeing Voltaire of the desert for however long he could keep up this line of techniques.
Post 2/2 Name: Water Release: Hiding in Mist Technique Rank: D Type: Ninjutsu Element: Water Release Range: Short to Mid range Description: This displacement technique is a speciality of the ninja from Kirigakure, where one causes a mist to spring forth by lifting up some water from either a pre-existing source or expelled from their mouth, then goes in and out of sight at will from within the pearly-white realm. The mist's thickness is controlled by the amount of chakra kneaded into it. It can't fool the Byakugan, but, due to the mist being created with the user's chakra, any Sharingan and Rinnegan-user will see the mist coloured by their opponent's chakra, which will effectively hide the user from the doujutsu. | Voltaire sat on the bank of the pool he had made in the space between the dunes. He looked up and saw that the desert which he had previously described as lifeless may have indeed been more full of life than he had been giving it credit for. Many small birds were now perched at the opposite shore to him drinking up the water born from his techniques, enjoying the shade, and some were even waddling part way into the water. He thought back to his teacher telling him about how some species of birds would intentionally get their breast feathers soaked with water so that when they flew back home their families could drink from their feathers, that style of sharing being much more easily done than trying to get both parents and many babies over to the nearest water while evading predators. Though some of those babies would have to go without a drink today, because there was a blonde headed, rain making, predator prowling these waters.
Voltaire let out a deep breathe through his nose, clearing out his lungs as is humanly doable without causing oneself injury, making sure to even exhale from his stomach and flatten himself out, to become empty as he could even of air. When he took in a deep breathe all of the water in the air both from the mist and from the nearby oasis filled his body, and then his chakra began doing what it did when faced with water and intent.

| When his lungs were still taking in air his body tried to eject the water, though due to the failure in timing Voltaire lurched forward, falling back into the water as he vomited fluid into the still existing even if ever more shrinking body of water. Though his mind was still going a million miles an hour to figure out how to make his next move, and as he was forced to swallow some water as he once more struggled to get himself to the slipping shore he wrapped his chakra around that large gulp of water, shaping it into an orb and forcing all of it into his stomach, doing so ever so carefully as to avoid his lungs. It stirred inside of him, making his stomach feel horribly uneasy as it turned more and more as he was forced to keep applying pressure with his chakra. He continued for some time to try to get back up onto shore, but decided instead to slink back down into the water to stop splashing, as the noise was bound to scare off whatever he was hunting from any distance if he kept this up, and of course because energy is scarce in the desert no matter how close the next meal is. That is how one learns to think in the wild, in terms of economy of energy. | |

| The orb of water continued to grow inside of him, pulling from the so recently refreshed moisture in his own body, parching him as still water remained inside of him, as the water that had initially existed just to surround the orb now permeated it, allowing it to stay infused with his chakra, to keep growing, to be separate from the rest of him even as it grew, preventing it from being absorbed as water there was meant to be. At the start of its long journey it was at the bottom of the stomach, near to the opening of the intestines, where it filled him with great discomfort and pressed against many of his other organs. There was only a brief moment where this was tolerable right before it began climbing up the esophagus; Voltaire finding his patience for feeling as though he were about to throw up growing thinner, and he was not aware such a patience could be at all thick to begin with. These nauseated feelings increased ten fold as the water crept up the back of his throat, though when it reached his mouth things went from unpleasant to fascinating. | |

| As the water evacuated his mouth he had to exercise much greater control over it as to avoid his own injury. No number of dead birds would be worth the time if he busted up his own jaw, leaving him nothing with which to eat them. At first he tried to condense the water, though that did very little as he felt it pushing very hard against the backs of his teeth. He then tried to flatten it into something more like a disk but this pressed very hard against the hinges of his jaws, and also would likely have torn his lips to his ears had he tried to release the blast in that way. His final and most successful attempt was to elongate the orb into something more like a stream with rounded tips on either end, forcing it back into a ball just as it left his mouth.
When released it slammed through the surface of the water, half of it staying above while the rest of it tore through the still water. His own body was flung back into the dune, showering him with sand as he made impact with the wall. The blast was more than sufficient to destroy those birds, but it was loud enough to scare them off well before it could have landed the shot. As it missed them, the blast tore a hole through the opposite wall, making a small waterfall but definitely not draining the water. It did however lower the surface enough for him to crawl back up.
Post 4/4 Name: Water Release: Gunshot Rank: C Type: Ninjutsu Element: Water Release Range: Short to Mid Range Description: The user kneads chakra, and converts it into water, and then spits it out in the form of condensed balls. The high-speed water ball attack possesses just as much power to kill as an actual gunshot. While this is a water release technique, it can still be employed someplace where no water is available, which is a great advantage. It is also possible to increase the power of destruction of the spheres themselves by building up the chakra inside of them. The number of bullets is determined while kneading chakra. By taking advantage of gravity, the bullets can brutally increase in power. With a user the size of a large summon, the bullets can actually be more like cannonballs, making them much deadlier. | Preparing for another technique, Voltaire swam circles around the basin, moving slowly and clumsily through his water as he was slowly figuring out how to maneuver. He was taking water into his mouth as he went, though this was not an accident and he was not in any danger of drowning. Voltaire allowed the water into his mouth, swallowing it up, drinking it up as one normally would, not yet expending chakra but making a point to hydrate his body as much as was humanly possible without accidentally busting open some part of himself.
As he swam he watched the birds, trying to calculate which part of the basin was most likely to tempt the birds back. The side they were at originally may now frighten them with the falls. His side had him on it, but if he went to the opposite side now he may fall into the hole and have some very real issues getting back into the water, which was all that was regulating his body temperature, that and the sun blocking mist.

| For what Voltaire wished to attempt he did not want to kneed to much of his chakra directly into his stomach, because this technique would be something far beyond issues of force or size. He did require chakra there though, to make up for his inability to drink up the amount of water that was necessary to complete this hunting task. And unlike the normal way of these sorts of techniques, the water did not rest entirely in his gut and then pour out at higher than the average human capacity pressures. This was going to have to fill the majority of his body, but not yet to be activated.
He closed his eyes, still trying to figure out the presence of the avian snacks, but not relying on other senses than hearing. He heard the cheeps and the rustling of sand as they were searching out water and insects. He leaned back against his dune and pointed his face towards that spot he heard them, silently working on this technique as he hunted.

| The chakra had done most of its part for the time being inside of his digestive system, for the time being that is. The chakra usage here would have to be continued for a final blast at briefly. His chakra flooded his saliva, as he allowed it to fill his mouth. This was another return to form for learning water techniques making him feel like he was skillfully losing his lunch, though he repeatedly reminded himself in a whisper, "I may feel sick now, but not nearly as sick as I will feel in a day if I am without water, shade, or snack birds." Saliva dripped down the corners of his mouth as he spoke these quiet words to himself. Normally when hunting he would think it wise to stay very silent, but he knew that to live without any words, even his own, was going to drive him even further into madness, something that he could not allow if he was to become an imminent leader in the world of the ninja.
Once more the chakra was directed towards his mid section. It was not to produce more water or to add any features to that which he had already created, but to push it upwards through his body. As it touched the chakra inside of his saliva it took on some of the qualities of his saliva, primarily stickiness.

| His chakra did one last hard pump, ejecting all of the sticky fluids from his mouth and towards his unsuspecting feathered friends. It did not travel like water, more like something else, something else that he could not quite put his finger on at that moment. Instead of moving like a stream was a jet of water would it moved in waves and strings, separately and in blobs as it flew through the air. As it struck the spot Voltaire had aimed for, as well as quite a bit in the surrounding area, it dissipated a bit when it hit normal water, though some remained on the surface for some time. The sand that was hit clumped immediately together, making Voltare want to build a sand castle, but childish things could wait for some other time where he created some other temporary oasis in the middle of the great desert that covered his entire country. When the slow birds were hit their feathers were made to be heavy, some even had their wings glued to their bodies to not allow them to fly. Some of the birds who had taken off flying were taken back to the ground by the force of the attack.

| Voltaire took slow, deep breathes of the recently moistened air as he prepared for another technique, one to kill all of the birds in one fell swoop. As they had been honorably serving their families he wished that they die honorable deaths, free of excessive pain or terror. So while the thought had occurred to him to walk over there and break all of their necks one at a time, or to pull the remaining sand that they sat on into the water and drown them all slowly, they did not deserve the torture of watching each other die. There was also a horribly high chance that their muscles would tighten up too much from the fear and his first hot meal in far too long would be lacking in the tenderness that he deserved. He had some worries about learning this technique because this power did not seem to come from his stomach, and he did not know yet whether or not the deadly needles were weaponized before or after they left his mouth. | |

| What most would perceive as humidity that did little more than labor the breath and cause a deep sense of discomfort, Voltaire could sense as individual droplets of water entering his chest for any use that he deemed fit. Many wrongfully thought of the lungs as pink sacks that just expanded and contracted to move the air that was needed to power the body of a mammal. This was not entirely wrong, but it was definitely a gross over simplification of the respiratory organs. Even once past the trachea and into the lungs, there were still a great many tubes for the air and the moisture within that air to travel through. It was pulled into the bronchi, with split off into a vast array of bronchioles which lead to alveoli. He was taking on the dangerous task of filling those tubes and alveoli with excess fluids. | |

| After a few moments of deep breathing to make sure that what he was to be accomplished was to be done right the first time, Voltaire started to draw his chakra towards his chest. He continued to take his deep breaths, making the chakra mix both with the air and with the water that was in the air, so he was breathing his own life force, circulating it back into himself through the respiratory system; it gave him a renewed feeling of strength and confidence as he waited while it got to the level that it needed to be at for him to use the jutsu that he had in mind. The chakra clung to the water as he commanded that element to be what stood out in that moment. The chakra did not thicken the water, but it formed loose bubbles around it and kept it from being split apart. He tried to shape it, spreading it out, flattening along a thin, cylindrical shape, sharpening the two ends of it, but he realized very quickly that he would have to stop this. Sharp pains filled him, and he managed to round everything out just before he punctured his own lungs in every necessary part of them required for breathing. | |

| As Voltaire continued to take in and let out deep breathes the chakra encased water bubbles now moved up into his mouth, slipping quickly and easily through the narrow bronchi, bouncing whimsically up the bronchioles, and floating gently up the esophagus to the back of his throat, reaching their resting space in his mouth. In his mouth the small orbs of water and chakra continued to move. Their movement was similar to that of planets when mapped out in a three dimensional model, orbiting and spinning around one another as they tried to find their shape. From time to time one of the orbs would make contact with the other, bouncing and spinning away from one another, yet they are never merged. They moved with significant but not painful force. This was no longer uncomfortable and what was even more fulfilling to his life now, he did not feel like he was going to throw up. | |

| As the chakra infused beads of water traveled through his mouth he knew that it was nearly time to release this lethal pressure upon the birds across the waters. As he pursed his lips the orbs needed very little prompting to respond appropriately to the air outside of his body. With just the slightest spin in the right direction from Voltaire's own clear volition, they rolled into thin, sharp, astonishingly solid pieces near his lips. They did this as they moved forward, not sharpening fully until they started to leave his pursed lips. As one needle moved out of his mouth another quickly took its place until some fifty to one hundred needles had been powerfully ejected from his face.
He tilted his head back somewhat, giving them an arc as they traveled through the air, and he used his medical knowledge of humans and extended where this could be done with birds. He made sure to aim the needles at the back of their heads, going for the brain stems. Several birds had their brain stems painlessly cut, while others were punctured all over, though the latter had so much damage done to their small internal organs that they bled out very quickly.

| Voltaire walked across the water and gathered up the birds that he had killed, there were seven of them in total. As he picked up the last of them he walked the bundle of birds over to his side of the water, where his clothes were. When he got there he scooped away a depression in the sand to the left of him, away from his clothing which was to the right. He began yanking out the feathers. Four of the birds looked to be of the same kind. They were tan with white bellies, and they were about seven inches tall. The remaining three were of different species. One was an owl about eight inches in height in spite of looking fully grown. The meat of a bird of pray would not be any good if it would be so much as safe, though the feathers were good so he did take those before discarding the body down the side of the rune to attract larger beasts. The remaining bird looked to be some sort of a brown dove with long, orange legs.
Once all of the feathers were placed in the depression for later cleaning Voltaire dug out a bit of a nearby rune to create a pool of water, closing it back up immediately after to close off a bit of the water. He threw in the now naked birds and then went back to the dune where he was plucking to grab his long, leather belt. He put the metal buckle in his teeth and leaned forward to tip the leather end in the now separate pool of water full of naked birds.

| Voltaire was approaching this situation with extra caution, especially as the wind had just taken away from him the shade of the mist. The water needed to be hot, but Voltaire was not accustomed to using Katon techniques. His only real knowledge of the fire element had been in techniques that amplified other shinobi's fire techniques. Though he did have one fire move up his sleeves, it was far too powerful for this. The spider of fire would leave the chicken charred and Voltaire wasting Chakra on healing himself when he is supposed to be training. He formed the first hand sign, lacing his fingers together with his left thumb pointing towards himself and his right pinkie pointing towards the water. "Mi!" he shouted into the belt buckle. He felt the chakra growing inside of him, he felt that heat that had been such a leading factor in his passing out the last time he went to train all by himself. Though that was how he found his spiders, it was not a mistake he thought would end happily twice. | |

| Voltaire slowly formed the second hand sign. His fingers were laced together again though this time the three in the middle on both hands pointed outwards, while his thumbs were stacked on top of each other and his pinkies formed a downward facing triangle. "Tatsu!" he barked through his teeth, as they were still gripping the belt buckle. As he did this he was instructing his Chakra on what to do for this technique to work, to translate it from pure heat to an actual directed flame that would not just devour him from the inside.
The heat was maddening, both outside of him and as well as inside of him as the technique wound up. Sweat was beading up all over his body, and his skin was turning bright red as he held that heat inside of himself. His Chakra itself was heating up to the nth degree, burning up as it flowed through the many channels of his body.

| Voltaire formed the next hand sign, rabbit as it was called. He took one hand and formed a fist, then pointed out his pinky. With the other hand he put up his thumb and then extended his index finger. He sat the first hand in the space between his pointer finger and his thumb, like putting the safety on his finger gun as he shouted, "U!" into the belt as well as he could between his teeth.
The Chakra was starting to get some sort of an idea of what to do as he felt the heat moving, and concentrating. The rest of his body was no longer so unbearably hot, but his mouth was growing to intense heat, and his chakra was creeping down the length of the belt. The belt was slowly starting to shrivel up as the heat from his chakra in the state necessary for the Katon release move he was working up.
