| Kozai finally had it under control. Well, all that he needed to do now was to get ready. He went on a casual walk through the village, placing multiple Hirashin seals on nearly every building he found, occasionally placing his hands together to force his body to regain chakra. Now he could get around faster than public transit. As an experiment, he vanished with a burst of chakra, to reappear on the opposite side of the town in an empty warehouse. Not too bad. Now that he was finally back in action to some extent, it was time to get back into some proactive training. He casually punched out, and ended up making a hole in the brick wall in front of him directly. He gave his fist a wry look. The knuckles stung a little bit, but all he had to do was break his body down and heal himself to get himself back in form to use the taijutsu style that worked best with Body Revival. Well, to be fair, that was just more of the same: damaging himself and receiving damage to himself in order to gain an advantageous position. After all, with the healing that he had, who needed caution? [1/10] | |

| Not bad. To be honest, he had been a little worried that had gotten too rusty to start re-training this style again. He powered up a little bit, feeling the chakra expanding outwards in his body. Now that he was slowly releasing his restraints (the mental ones, that is), he recalled his over half a century's worth of chakra control practice and habit. Creating something as simple as this was easy. Although, hell, with his capabilities now, what was really holding him back? Why settle for a B when he could easily score an A? He grunted as he increased the power output further, then threw another punch, gasping as the muscles in his arm tore slightly. With a bit of medical chakra, that was easily fixed, his tissue looking good as new, if not better than before. The damage he'd done to the infrastructure of the building, however, was much higher. Right, so that was the basis behind his style. Attack without regard to the damage he dealt to himself, because it literally didn't matter. Well, while he wasn't quite ready to perform techniques of that caliber as of yet, he was able to raise his chakra to a level where he might try to start again. [2/5, actually] | |

| He headed out of the building on another quick jog, a little faster than the lope that he was taking before. He wanted to feel this one, to really FEEL it. Not sure what he's talking about? Well, if anyone could see into his brain, they'd know what he was thinking of doing. There was a reason he'd set up all of those hiraishin seals just a few minutes before. Not only was he testing the limits of his own chakra, he was also going to set up for yet another fantastic training exercise. The jog itself, however, was only the beginning. The air was cool today, as it often was in the mountains. Perfect for exercise. Dressed as he was in his track pants, nobody would mistake Kozai for what he actually was; that is, a shinobi of the village. Not that it really mattered, but if there was one behavior that the man had picked up over the years, it was a propensity to try and avoid attention. Generally, a drunk old grouch with an abnormally high chakra level was something that it made sense to keep away from the public. Still, he'd managed to stay off the real bad shit, so he was fine. | He remembered that afternoon with the Raikage. He'd tossed away a dark future of tripping out, and resigned himself to a bright, rose-colored future of hard work and.... and what else? Why had he even become a ninja in the first place? He couldn't remember anymore. He'd lost so much. He supposed that's why he was running now. Not away from the unknown, but towards it. Pfft, right? Who cared about why he'd gotten himself into this shit-hole in the first place? The past was there, and sure, he could rear its ugly head and roar all it wanted. But there was no changing it, so why worry? Kozai adjusted his mindset, and ran on, going faster and faster. He had almost reached the speed that he needed, now. Bury the past, leap towards the future. And just like that, he leaped. The street ended in a wall, after which was a sheer drop down to the next tier of the village, where Kozai had been that morning. Kozai jumped over the wall, and began to fall. Right before he hit the ground, he closed his eyes and smiled.
Within him, an old man rejoiced.
Within him, a child grimaced.
Within him, a young man exulted.

| He reappeared in a flash of lightning on the other side of the city, running again. Every few seconds, he'd vanish in a burst of energy, and reappear somewhere else. He could handle this. His calculative capacity was as expansive as the firmament. The difference between him and anyone else who tried to use this technique was as heaven-and-earth. Like a titan looking down upon an ant. His final target was some old training dummy in the grounds. As he moved, his hands did also, forming a familiar handseal and creating an explosive clone. Now this was an old trick for old dogs. He vanished, reappearing in the training grounds, poised to strike, but as he did so, he feinted and vanished, just as the clone took his place. It exploded, vaporizing the dummy and shocking all of the genin doing their little pathetic workouts there. Nice! Kozai gave himself a figurative grin. He wasn't at the stage of real smiles yet. Grunting to himself in satisfaction, he vanished one more time, heading home. This had been a funny and good training method, but it wasn't quite what he needed yet. There would be a time and a place for that, however. Real opponents! Just imagine, you old fuck, what kind of growth you could have against someone like yourself! [5/5] | |
