Training with Rei [flashback]

Kyo only brought his Wakizashi Shinso with him today and it was not needed really. He maybe subconsciously wanted to show Rei his new weapon. But that was all the items on him. Everything else was stored in the tattoos on his wrist if the need arose. Today was literally training day. Rei had promised him a gift. Usually that meant some food or a new training dummy but she reaasured him that it would change his life forever. When she said stuff like that Kyo would get so annoyed at her but knowing fully well his mistress would just knock him out and laugh at him. But thus time was different. She was serious and it piqued Kyo's interest so much he nearly fell out of his bed in pace of getting ready to meet her. But now he kept a slow but steady pace as he made his way to the river side. He just remembered on these informal meetings Rei was always late so there was no need to hurry. As he arrived at the river bank, he had his hands in his pockets, his sunglasses on to hide his pearl like eyes from the sun and his wakizashi strapped to his back but it was not covered by his biker jacket as he cut a hole through it for quick drawing of it.

This Rei...

"Good morning Rei." He said cheerfully. More than he meant to since he was not known to be a cheerful person. Maybe it was because he had not seen his friend in such a long time. It had been months since he last saw her. He could tell that she was in her playful mood. But unlying that was a shinobi of severe brutality that he had full intention of emulating but in a different way. So this was her intention; to let him work for his gift. It was the right way in his opinion. She was far stronger and faster than he was but he was intent to do his best. With that, he activated his Byakugan and took the Gentle fist fighting style.

"There is something I want to to show you as well. Rei of the Hyuga clan." His voice had deepened and had become even more richer and full of authority as Hyuga were known to be.

He knew that Rei may underestimate him as would others do. If she did take it too far in her underestimation, she would see clearly with her very own Byakugan that Kyo was not one to be taken as a push over.

His eyes squinted as the veins from the side of his face as they throbbed with chakra that lead to his doujutsu. Kyo looked at her movements clearly; something he was not able to do before. He could tell that she was nowhere close to being at her quickest.

I guess I am going to have to force you to move faster won't I Rei?

He moved even faster than Rei at this point. As she lunged forward with an open palm strike, Kyo parried Rei's shot forward with using his left hand and quickly grabbed her forearm pulling her towards him. With the same fluid motion, Kyo kept pulling her arm, ducked and pivoted around her and attempted to grab the scroll behind her.

His timing was impeccable as expected. His agility as a Hyuuga and taijutsu expert helped greatly as well. She was fast but it was not overwhelming to him, not at this stage. He could still somehow get out. As her hand came closer toward him, he timed it well as it supposed to be. Her hand crashed into his midsection and suddenly there was a puff of white smoke as he was replaced by a log which her hand may or may not have hit.

Either way, he appeared twenty meters in a diagonal position in mid air from Rei. He was not hiding; hiding from a Hyuuga made no sense at all, but rather he repositioned himself. The replacement jutsu would buy him the valuable second he needed for this next move.

The tree was jus ten meters away from both of them as he launched his beam saber straight towards Rei aiming for her shoulder. The beam, cared not of how fast a person was or how durable. Its user cared deeply for Rei as one would a sister. However, Kyo had one goal and that was to show Rei; the one person he looked up to that he had improved.

Kyo knew fully well that Rei could have defended herself from that attack. And he learned many things from the encounter. The tweaks he had to make to ensure the attack was even better for enemies of the clan and of the village. There were few people in this world whose opinion mattered to him and Rei, first and foremost being his friend and secondly would one day be the leader of the Hyuga clan, it made her really important to him. He had to steady his nerves as he saw the light attack hurt her. He could not be his usual cold and meticulous self, no. By this time Kyo landed on the forest floor and readied himself.

Kyo's eyes searched Rei; as would a Hyuga so during battle and as no doubt as Rei would have done. He saw the moment when she had dropped the log and also more importantly when her chakra started to gather. Having learnt the same attack as an opponent helps because you will know exactly what they are up to. As if like a mirror, he followed Rei's movements and unleashed with both arms the same deadly attack in an attempt to cancel out Rei's Vacuum Palm.

"I agree Rei san. But I just could not help it." He said as he caught his breath from the excitement of the attack itself. He had observed the trees were uprooted on both ends coming from both of the Hyuuga. And at the center of it all where the attack met, there was no longer any canopy of trees since the vacuum palm meeting had destroyed quite a few trees from the explosion. Had it been a real battle, Kyo would create a shadow clone and made him distract the opponent with a vacuum palm while he attacked with something else. But Kyo had his agenda with not evading the attack.

"I could not help but test out my vacuum palm against yours. I wanted to see if I had a chance of countering it instead of evading." Continued Kyo while looking at Rei. He felt a lot more confident than before this encounter. "The whole point of this is to see how far I need to go to see myself measure up to you my Hyuuga sister and that was accomplished. I have a long way to go but you are my ambition. You are the person I must surpass if I am to be strong." With that Kyo walked to Rei until he was close enough and offered his fingers in the seal of reconciliation and smiled at his friend.

Kyo thought about Rei's words for a bit and several thoughts circled around him. He smiled at Rei as he thought about surpassing Rei. She was standing before him and that feeling became even more real to him. There was one comforting thought though; the fact that they were on the same side and did not have to worry about one trying to murder the other.

Kyo had his one other goal and that was to make his clan great and slay without hesitation anyone who dares raises a sword to Konoha. It was at this moment as Rei had finished speaking he knew exactly what he wanted to say.

"The more you push forward and grow, so will I. When you've reached where you need to be, there will be a time when I will surpass you."

Kyo had determination in his voice and in his own Byakugan, but not only in that of course. He had every intention to keep his word. Hopefully next time he would do better and next time he would be even stronger.

"So what now?" Asked Kyo referring to the scroll.

So now they wait for this other person to show up. Kyo was not 100% sure of Rei's plan just yet but he trusted her so he really did not have any sort of suspicions about anything. All he knew was that he had to exercise patience and Rei was going to give him something that he won't soon forget.

He thought that in the meantime, he should talk to Rei about things before the other person came.

"Rei san, what exactly is going to happen to me when this man comes?" Asked Kyo as he sat on the ground with his legs crossed and he leaned back on his arms in a relaxed position. He felt like a kid asking a parent when his gift would arrive. And the thing is, he had no idea what this 'gift',was.

Makoto would make his way to the river bank with a suitcase dressed in his normal attire consisting of a black leather jacket with a white senju symbol on his back. “Good Morning.” He would say to the pair of Hyuga, one consisting of Rei the one who is the future of the Hyuga Clan as well as the Anbu Leader as well as maybe the Hokage. Kyo was a little younger but the future of the Hyguga as well and which was whom he was performing the surgery for. Why was he getting the same surgery as Rei? Makoto didn’t know nor did he care. “I expect a favor in return Kyo.” Makoto would say as he reached in his pockets and pulled out some black surgeon gloves and slipped them on. He opened the suitcase as it was filled with nothing but scrolls as he summoned one scroll as it formed a mat for Kyo to lay on. “Sleep or Awake?” Makoto would say to perform his surgery Kyo could pick one even though he would just numb the area regardless. He looked at Rei for conformation to perform the surgery.

Kyo as always thought well about the matter. He knew that whatever it was that was being done to him would work out to be the benefit of all present. He took out his pack of cigarettes and began smoking to ease the suspense. Another ten minutes had passed after he threw away the butt of his cigarette. In came Makoto and he brought in his equipment with him. He seemed solemn as did Rei at this point but he could be mistaken. Makoto would tell Kyo that he would want a favor in return, which in his opinion made no sense to Kyo. Because any friend of Rei, there was nothing Kyo would not give to that person. But Kyo understood why Makoto would say that. After all he did not know Kyo very well.

With that, after summoning a mat no doubt for Kyo to lay upon, Makoto asked the question 'Sleep or Awake?' His reply was asleep. There was no need to have fear here. Kyo just felt a certain calm wash over him as he lay upon the mat and mentally readied himself for what was to come. Seconds later, Kyo fell into the bliss of sleep.

When he awoke, he felt no difference in his body; apart from the tenderness of the inscision where Makoto had made for his procedure. He was indeed talented and this procedure was the proof. But Kyo had to heal and to find out eventually the full extent of this gift from Rei. Whatever it was that Makoto wanted he will express to Kyo in time he supposed. Kyo sat up on the mat while looking at his hands wondering what exactly had been put in him.

Makoto would move swiftly throughout the surgery while also making sure he didn’t screw anything up. He took the kidney from the old body. “This body is gonna rot in this scroll ya got Rei..” He would say as he chuckled and made an incision in the Hyuga boy in the left side of his abdomen. From there he would replace kidneys as he soon stitched it up and started on his healing jutsu as well as numbing jutsu he had learned from the beginning of his Medical Training. “I hope you go into Medical Ninjutsu as well Rei.” Makoto would point out as he released the boy from the sleep due to finishing the surgery. As he sat up Makoto would speak, “Kaguya DNA, the bone clan with the training help of Rei you should be able to master the techniques with relative easy although seeing that its different to your body it will be an little more effort to use. I’m sure Rei knows more benefits to it then that but that’s all I know. Be careful with over working yourself due to the surgery you still need to recover from the stitches as well as from the dopiness of the surgery. The only reason you don’t feel it now is because I have it numbed but you will feel in within a couple hours.” Makoto would nod to Rei first then Kyo. “Is there anything else you need from me or did you want me to hang around for a bit?” He would say mostly asking Rei.

Makoto was indeed right; he had to take it easy for the implant to work and start to heal and adapt to his body. Kyo knew nothing of implants and what was to be expected really. When Makoto gave him the information about it, it was only then he got an understanding of what Rei's gift really was. But he had full intention of finding out from Rei what was her intention of giving him such a gift. From what he learned in his studies, the Kaguya clan was a blood thirsty clan that had the unique ability of manipulation of their bones. Such a thought irked him a bit the more he thought about it. Now such DNA was inside of him. He was both scared and exited of the thought that these bones would burst through his skin. But even his mind could not venture further in his own thoughts due to the grogginess, a product of the numbing agent from the surgery.

"Makoto Senju...you won't regret this." Said Kyo as he lazily smiled under all the grogginess. "Arigato..."

He got up from the mat and staggered over to a nearby tree and sat under it as he looked on at Rei and Makoto. At this time, he dipped into his pocket and took out a pack of cigarettes. He took one out, lit it with a lighter he had and started smoking. Grey swirls started to take his mind off of many things for now.

As Kyo exhaled his final blast of cancerous smoke from his lungs and flicked the butt off somewhere, he raises his arm to see the inscisions Makoto had made. He knew they were raw but he did not care. To him, time was always of the essence and he needed to start something now.

"Rei...did you get this same feeling?" Asked Kyo as he stood there looking at his palm and kept opening and closing his hand. "The feeling that you've changed that is."

He could literally feel it in his bones. It grew from his kidneys and spread throughout his body.

"What is this? What is happening to me Rei?" Said Kyo in a startled tone of voice while he looked Rei.
